Ashton's POV

"How long do you think it'll be before the next monster shows up?" Hope asks as we skim through books.
"It's hard to say." Dr. Saltzman says bringing out more books.
"More?" I groan, making Dr. Saltzman look back at the with an unimpressed look.
"I've never actually seen an artifact glow before." Dr. Saltzman says, paying no attention to me.

"Where did you hide the urn, by the way?" Dr. Saltzman asks Hope.
"I'm not sure I should tell you two." Hope replies.

"Excuse me?"
"What?"

"Isn't it safer if only one of us knows where it is?" Hope reasons.
"Then that one of us should be the adult." Dr. Saltzman says.
"Funny, because I thought it should be the one of us with high-level superpowers." Hope snarks.

"I have high-level superpowers." I say.
"Well...y-you're irresponsible." Hope replies, offending me.
"He-."

"What do we tell everyone else?" Hope asked Dr. Saltzman brushing me off. "We should probably warn them before a cyclops crashes exam week."

"It's usually best to start with some form of the truth." Dr. Saltzman replies.

"What about those times the truth is the one thing you can't say?" I ask.

"Are you sure you want to keep all of this from Landon?" Dr. Saltzman asked Hope, "I mean, I understand you wanting to protect him, but-."
"He's been wondering about his mother his whole life." Hope states. "He finally meets her and then she dies."

"If we can keep him from knowing what that feels like, then it's worth it." Hope says.
Hope lets out a sigh.
"Look, it's my secret to keep, guys." She pleads.
"Please."
"Okay."
"Fine."
"Thank you." Hope says.

Alaric sighs.
"The trick is to give everyone the right amount of information without giving away too much", Dr. Saltzman says. "We've been through this before with the knife, so it shouldn't come as too much of a shock. This is our chance to do things differently, more responsibly."

I didn't feel the need to attend the assembly, since I already knew what was going to be said.

I was kinda bored so I texted Avery to see what she was up to.
