Karman's pov:
It's been a few days since Dale's death. Carl still hasn't made any efforts in trying to talk to me, but I can't say much because neither have I. The only people I really talk to are Maggie and Glenn. That's about it.
There's still that random guy in the barn. He hasn't made any movements. He won't talk about where his people are or who he is in general. Shane is getting pretty ticked off about it too. Shane has been trying to get him to talk for a long time and this dude won't say a thing.
Still don't know his name. Nor do I care. All I care about is that he stays locked up. If he gets out, it could be a danger to the whole group and I don't feel like fighting a battle anytime soon."Kay! There you are! I was looking for you," Glenn said as he approached me. "Maggie and I are gonna run into town real quick. We have to pick up some more pregnancy stuff for Lori."
"Okay. I'll be here," I replied. He smiled and walked away, but before he got too far it hit me. Did he just say 'pregnancy stuff for Lori'? I yelled for him. "Wait, did you just say pregnancy stuff for Lori?"
"Yeah. I did," he replied giving me a somewhat annoyed expression. Before he could leave for good he looked at me and said, "Be good. Don't do anything stupid." I gave him a thumbs up and he started walking back to the house again.
I turned back towards the field and looked at the view I was given. I suddenly felt a presence beside me. I gave a quick glance and knew exactly who it was.
"I'm sorry," he started off. "For ignoring you. We had just made that promise to trust each other and I totally blew it because I was guilty and felt scared. You tried to help me, but I pushed you away. I didn't want you to get hurt next because of me." I turned my head towards him with a scowl painted on my face.
"Are you serious? That's why you think I wasn't talking to you? Do you even remember what you said to me that day?" He didn't answer me. He just looked into the woods and then on to the ground. "Well, since you don't seem to remember, let me give you a refresher," I started up again.
"You told me to get over losing MY sister because you were feeling guilty for something that wasn't even your fault. I lost my sister a few days before the day Dale died and you told me to get over it," I was in his face at this point and he was looking right at me. We were face to face. Me screaming at him, while he takes in everything that I say to him. He had no emotions on his face. I decided to take a breath and try again. "That is why I'm mad at you," I say calmly.
I look towards the field again. "I'm sorry," he muffled. "I was hurt. There is no excuse for what I did or said and I feel like crap. I have been for the past few days. Not having you to talk to, sucked. I get it if you just want to ignore me or whatever. Just remember that I am really sorry for what I said. If I could take it back, I would." He started to walk away.
I bit my lip as I was thinking. I don't want to lose anyone else. Not right now.
"Carl. Wait," I said. I turned around to look at him and he turned to look at me. I walked up to where he was standing, which wasn't far. "I accept your apology," he furrowed his eyebrows. "That doesn't mean that I'm not mad at you still, but I do accept your apology. If you want you can stay here with me and look at this view." He started to smile. "Not because we are friends though. Just because it gives you something to do other than mope around."
His big smile turned into a small grin. He nodded and so did I. We both walked back to the wooden gate and stood where we were before. I was still mad at him, but it felt nice to have him around again. Just his presence made me feel better. It was so peaceful. Just sitting there quietly. No talking. No walker groans. Just hearing the birds chirping was enough for me. Carl, me, and the birds. It was all so peaceful.
A Couple Hours Later:
Carl and I were sitting in the house, talking about how Lori was pregnant. He was just as shocked as I was. In the middle of our conversation, we heard a man screaming "He got away," we both looked at each other, got up, and ran outside to see what was going on. Once we got outside we saw Shane with a blood all up on his nose. Carl and I looked at each other worried.
"He escaped from the barn. I went into the woods to look for him and the shithead broke my nose. Until we find him, you kids stay inside. He puts us in danger and I'm not trying to have another kid die," Shane yelled.
Great. Just when I thought things were actually working out and doing well. Some dumb dude in a barn ruins it. What the heck are we gonna do now?
