6. CDC

Karman's POV:

Slowly walking. Walking through the moans and groans of the dead. The adults are killing, while us 3 kids are behind them. We follow them step by step. Lori was holding Carl's hand and Sophia was holding mine.

We got to the front of the building and Rick started talking to a camera on the wall. There was a person on the inside. Scared to let us in. I get it...I would be too.

After awhile of listening to the bickering between Rick and the dude on the other side, the entrance opened. We walked in one-by-one just in case.

Carl's POV:

It was big on the inside of this building, known as the CDC. We walked into a big room full of computers and chairs and a man walked through another door. He had a flowy white lab coat on. He then introduced himself.

"Hi. I'm Dr. Jenner. Welcome to the CDC."

"I'm Rick and this is Lori, Andrea, Dale, Glenn, Shane, Daryl, Jaqui, Carol, and T-Dog. The three kids are Sophia, Karman, and Carl.", My dad announced.

"Well, let's get started.", Dr. Jenner said. He showed us to our rooms. There was a kids room. There was games, books, and did I say games?! There was also water, which doesn't sound like much, but trust me in this kind of world it is.

"Sophia! Karman! Over here!", I yelled to them. They started walking over.

"What's up?", Sophia said.

"Look at all these different games. There's Uno...Yahtzee...Slide. Which one are we going to play fir..", I was interrupted by my mom who was sitting on the couch behind us.

"C'mon time to head to bed guys."

"Fine. Tomorrow.", I said looking at the two girls. They both nodded their heads. I walked out of the room with Sophia and Kay behind me.

Karman's POV:

Just as we walked out of the room, Shane walked in. I felt tension in the air when he brushed past me. I wanted to ignore it but that's not who I am.

As Carl and Sophia headed to their rooms, I stopped in the hallway and turned around to go back the game room. As I walked up to the game room, all I could hear was Shane whisper yelling.

I peeked through the doorway and saw Shane holding Lori up against the wall. He was in between yelling and whispering. I wanted to go stop him. I wanted to speak up and yell, but my throat hitched. I couldn't speak. I couldn't do anything, so I did what I do best and ran back to Sophia and I's room.

When I got back to my room, I shut the door and walked into the bathroom. I walked past Sophia who was laying down on the bed peacefully sleeping. I got to the bathroom and shut the door behind me. I put my back to the door and slid down to the floor.

'You could've stopped it. You could've done something, but you didn't. You froze. You ran. You're weak. You'll always be weak.' As I was telling myself I heard a soft knock on the door. I had tears running down my cheek so I quickly wiped them away and opened the door. Nobody was there. So, I walked up to the main door and opened it.

It was Lori. Just looking at her made tears well up in my eyes. I blinked a few times to get the tears to go away. I looked at her and she reached out her hand. I looked at her hand for a minute and took it. I walked out the door, closing it behind me. It was silent as we walked down the hallway.

"I saw you.", she said. I looked up at her with a confused face pretending that I didn't know what she was talking about.

"Out of the corner of my eye. I know you saw Shane and me in the game room." I gave her an 'I'm Sorry' look.
