Prologue

| If anyone knows "The Iron Fey" series, this is a sequel I made from my own imagination, hope you like it |

I have known who or rather what I am for my whole life, and I have always known they would come for me one day. But why did they have to come collect me so soon.

My name is Serena Witlock, I'm 17, my real name is actually Serena Chase, you might not believe it but I wasn't born human, well not completely human, I'm part human, part feary. Most people think about Tinkerbell when you think about fearys, but the real kind of fearys that are out there aren't nice, cute and definitely don't work with pixiedust. They are the real monsters of not just your world but also mine, they are the things you see moving in the corner of your eye, the monsters that hide in the shadows or under children's beds, they don't have wands or pointy hats or twinkly wings (well some of us have) and we don't make wishes come true unless you have something to offer for it. We are the real soulless monsters and our one and only weakness is metal. You may not know it but we actually walk amongst you humans, we have magic or glamour how we call it, to disguise us, to look like you or just become completely invisible. At a certain age we stop aging physically but we can still die from an arrow, sword or anything you humans die from too. You may know us as the Good Neighbors, the Fair Folk or just fairys, we go by at so many names. There are people that can see us, they are born with the Sight. It is a blessing and a curse, they see us but when we start noticing it, we are drawn to that person and mostly make their life a living hell. If it's not us driving them crazy they do it themselves for not being able to split fantasy and reality anymore. And William Shakespeare is one of those people, the only difference is that he was still sane enough to make a play about us namely: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Oberon the king of the Seelie court, Titania queen of the Seelie court, Mab queen of the Unseelie court and Robin Goodfellow or maybe you know his as Puck, jest of the Seelie court, are all real. Oberon is actually my grandfather, Mab is my grandmother and Puck has been my guardian and best friend for as long as I can remember. Our world is called the Nevernever and it is divided in four, the Seelie court or the Summer court where Oberon is the absolute ruler and is married with Titania. The Unseelie court or the Winter court where Mab rules, then there is the Wyldwood, the neutral plane, no-one rules there but it also is the most dangerous place in the whole Nevernever, there the most dangerous of our kind hold home and even the land itself would try to kill you. And then last but not least the Iron court, the irony, we fey are 'allergic' to iron and there is a whole race of iron fey, we fey are born from human's imagination, creatures that live in the dark, that are able to fly and use magic, but in time technology became more advanced and humans stopped dreaming about us and started dreaming about creatures made out of metal and so the Iron fey were born. For centuries the Summer and Winter court didn't know a thing about this race or their court, until a certain thing happened. The king of the Iron court had kidnapped my mother's little brother and together with Puck and Ash the Winter prince they defeated and killed the Iron king but something happened they would never expect. She fell in love with Ash who was the Winter prince and the rules clearly say that Summer and Winter may not share friendship or love, but against all odds they held on to their love. But that is not all, the old Iron king transferred his power on to Meghan and now she did not only have Summer magic but Iron magic too. As for the Love between Meghan and Ash, they admitted they shared love and would not cast it away for the courts, and for that they were exiled to the human world. They thought that with being exiled they were finally able to be together but another threat occurred. A False king of the Iron court was attacking the Summer and Winter court to take power over the whole Nevernever and with every inch they closed in on the army of Summer and Winter the poisonous land of the Iron court crept on the Nevernever, and the only thing the false king needed to take over the whole world was the power of the Iron king that was inside my mother. Meghan, Ash, Puck and the rebels of the Iron court that were against the false king took victory against the false king but at a great consequence. My mother was fatally wounded and dying but she still wouldn't let the Nevernever be destroyed, with the last power she had in her body she cleansed the earth from the poison and in return the earth itself healed Meghan and made her the new queen of the Iron court. But because of this Meghan and Ash couldn't be together, for as long as Ash would remain soulless he wouldn't be able to survive in the Iron court. But his love for Meghan was so great he went to search for a soul so they could be together, he went to the end of the world and got himself a human soul. He returned to Meghan and they could finally be together again, they got married and even got a child, not me but my older brother Keirran. They were happy with having Keirran but they also feared his power, he was the son of the Iron queen who also possesses Summer power and the son of the Winter prince so they knew he would possess all three powers, but it was already a known fact all over the Nevernever that the Iron queen had a son so they couldn't hide it. But when they learned about his power they tried several things, some tried kidnapping him to seize power of the Iron court, and some even tried killing him because of the fear that he would take over the whole Nevernever. My mother and father tried everything in their power to protect him and even made a law for hurting a member of the royal family, but they still were very protective of my brother and made a promise to themselves that if they would have another child they would hide it from our world. And that is what happened to me, my mother was pregnant with me and they were a happy as could be but their fear was quite right. There had been an attempt on my life, with sadness in their heart they made it seem as if the attempt on my life did kill me, they made it look as if I was killed and they placed me with a human family that would have knowledge of my true nature, and swore to keep me save until it was time for me to be acknowledged as the princess of the Iron court. As an extra backup they asked Puck to be my official guardian and teacher. Everything I know from the history of our world to magic I learned from him, he taught me how to disguise my fairy side from the world, because of my legacy my eyes aren't the most normal ones, my eyes represent the three courts. One of my eyes is green, from my mother's side and resembles the Summer court, my other eye is diamond blue, from my father's side and resembles the Winter court and the silver specks in my eyes resemble the Iron court. But for humans something like that isn't normal, nor is my pointy face, long pointed ears and my way too big eyes, so instead of using my own powers to disguise myself Puck casted a spell on me that the ones that know my true nature see me as me, and the rest would see me as another girl with long black hair and dark brown eyes. I tried to stay under the radar, tried not to get close to anyone but there was one person that really got to my heart, Maya my best friend, it was like she was my sister and we were even that close that I could tell her about my true nature and her not losing her mind about it. She is the only one besides my human family to be able to see my true nature, but after they are going to come and collect me they will forget all about me and my world, it will all seem like a dream and they will be able to go on with their life and that is exactly the reason I don't want to get close to anyone.
