ENJOY!

I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and renewed. That is, until I remembered everything from last night. Throughout the night, my mind must have been working the puzzle pieces together because I thought of something I couldn't recall last night.

When I was in the dining hall, I remember there being a squeaky noise. Almost like an old door. Somebody must've left the note when I was by myself in the dining hall. That thought had me more than creeped out.

I was just glad that I got out of there safe.

I sat up in bed and looked around the room. Josie was still lying asleep in her bed and I could make out Tara's sleeping form across the room. Rochelle's bed was empty and neatly made. I slipped quietly out of bed and tiptoed to the bathroom after grabbing some clothes. Ten minutes later, I came back out dressed and ready to explore.

Since I didn't get the chance to check out the room yesterday, I was determined to find a way into it today. Today's Sunday so I should have some free time. Unfortunately, that means everybody else will have free time too, meaning somebody might find me.

I set out and went down to the dining hall for breakfast, but I hesitated in the doorway, memories from last night still fresh in my mind. Then I saw Rochelle sitting with other girls by the window and the room was filled with chatter so I ventured into the room. I snagged a granola bar and joined Rochelle at her table. All the girls seemed distracted by something so none of them looked up when I sat down.

"Hey."

"Hey," all the girls mumbled back to me.

I turned to Rochelle, "What's wrong with everybody?" I whispered so only she could hear me.

"More of the girls are sick; it's not just Josie's fear of rats that made her sick. The nurse thinks she and the other girls got food poisoning."

I felt my eyes bulge out.

 "Food poisoning?"

I forgot to keep my voice low and the other girls turned towards me.

"Yeah," one of the girls answered, "I woke up to one of the girls in my dorm upchucking in the bathroom." She wrinkled her nose in disgust.

"There were two sick girls in my dorm." Another girl chimed in.

The other girls all chorused a 'me too'.

"So at least one girl from every dorm is sick?" I questioned.

Rochelle nodded. "Yup, but I think Josie was the first girl to feel sick. Everybody else was at the movie last night except for her... and you."

She turned towards me with a questioning look on her face. I tried to think quick, knowing the question that was on her face.

"Yeah, I was, uh, taking care of Josie. I didn't want to leave her all by herself."

Again, not a complete lie. I did help Josie; I just didn't think Rochelle and the other girls needed to hear about my little adventure in the dining hall last night.

I chewed on my granola bar thoughtfully, wondering if the food poisoning was connected to Josie being sick.

Of course it does you moron! I thought to myself.
