"Hey, Chikara! Quit spacing out!"

"Ow!"

It took Nishinoya's punch to Ennoshita's chest to get him off the trance, he didn't even notice he was spacing out until he was back to the current situation.

Right, he was having lunch with all the second years in their classroom.

"Is something bothering you?" Tanaka asked, concerned over his fellow second year, who shook his head, waving it off.

"Perhaps you're wondering if you'll finally get out of the friendzone with [YL/N]?" Kinoshita, on purpose, loudly asked towards him while slightly looking over to where you and your friends were seated.

"What—no! Stop it!" Ennoshita, embarrassed, loudly whispered. His eyes averted to you, who was looking at him, perplexed, but soon gave a boyish wave towards him, in which he returned with a nod.

He'd hate to admit it but you were in his mind when he supposedly spaced out. It was because he was planning to let his confession be heard once again after a month of the failed first confession.

"I thought you were no longer in the friendzone?" Narita queried. As much as Ennoshita wanted to not talk about it, he knew that he better answer now or they'd bother him until the end of volleyball practice.

"Would you consider the response 'Thanks! I like you, too, bro!' as 'no longer in the friendzone'?" Ennoshita sighed out. Just remembering how much he tried to gather his courage that day only to end with that makes him want to quit this. "Even if it was, clearly nothing has happened to us aside from the usual buddy-buddy thing so I'm still in the friendzone. But I won't stop, though."

God, being this determined and optimistic makes him feel like he's turning into Tanaka and Nishinoya's kind.

"What're you talkin' 'bout?"

"Gah!"

The devil was here much to his surprise as you appeared from behind his seat, grinning at the group while your hands were on Ennoshita's shoulders.

"Wow, you're really surprised, huh?" You chuckled, "Well? What're you folks talking about? I heard my name, were you talking about me?" You looked over to Nishinoya and Tanaka who was grinning right back at you to Ennoshita who seemed like he was trying to keep up his 'cool' facade but in reality he seemed nervous.

"We were definitely talking about you, [YL/N]-san!" Tanaka mused, earning a glare from Ennoshita which he lightly brushed off.

"Chikara here was telling us how pretty you are today!" Nishinoya followed.

Ennoshita made a note to himself that he wouldn't help the two with their studies.

"Aw, really? Thank you, Ennoshita!" You gave a light slap on his back before going back to your seat as if nothing happened. Meanwhile, the 'lover boy', as the second years nicknamed him, was embarrassed in his seat, face all red but covered the lower half of it with his hand.
