You loved him. Without a doubt.

You were willing to do everything for him.

Despire his snarky remarks at everything, you were still with him, smiling kindly at him.

People often questioned your relationship with Tsukishima, and how it was even possible for such a kind hearted person and an asshole to be together. Honestly, you also didn't know. It just.... happened. They would say that he didn't even treat you any different than he did with others despite being the girlfriend.

They were wrong.

Behind closed doors, he was caring. He would smile lovingly towards you as he pushed a few strand of your hair to your ear before giving a soft kiss on your lips. He would caress your hair in a soothing manner as you lay your head on his shoulder while you watch a movie together. He would hold your hand into his larger ones, interlocking your fingers together, kissing the back of your hand from time to time. He would silently look into your eyes with his own that was filled with sadness before he buries his face on your nape, mutterings apologies for his behavior, snaking his arms around your waist then becoming quiet. finding solitude in the silence with only your breathings that could be heard.

And you were fine with it.

If this was what greeted you after hours of torment, you were willing to withstand it.

"Kei, ready to go home?" You asked, approaching him as soon as he finished changing after their volleyball practice. Yamaguchi had left early for his jump float serve practice, the rest were also preparing to leave.

"Yeah." He responded curtly, avoiding eye contact or whatsoever. Just the usual. With that, you both bid farewell to the volleyball team and walked home.

As usual, the walk was silent. But somehow, the air seemed to be strange and awkward, but you paid bo mind to it, until he stopped walking, causing you to pause also.

He spun around to face you, he looked nervous for a second, but soon he was back to his stoic visage. You tilted your head, confused of what he was doing, but deep inside you knew what was going to happen. His cold gaze bore into yours.

"Let's break up, [YL/N]-san." He said nonchalantly, as if it was nothing. You, on the other hand, were taken aback. You knew, but you weren't prepared. You felt your heart crack and your hands turning cold. You didn't break eye contact with him. You stayed silent, staring at each other for a good few moments.

Before you smiled kindly.

"Okay." You said, there was no pain lingering in your smile, in your tone, and in your eyes. You didn't want this, but you were willing to give what he wanted.

It was his turn to be taken aback, eyes widened at how easily you accepted it. His lower lip quivered. He stared at you, looking pained. He was, one again, surprised when your soft hand reached towards his cheeks, a worried look plastered on your face.

"Why are you crying, silly?" He only noticed when you gently brushed a thumb on the single tear rolling down and the wind brushed against the area, feeling the coolness. The tears didn't stop from rolling down his eyes and it made you worry. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.

"Goddammit, [YF/N]..." He mumbled, you were about to retract your hand but he quickly grabbed it, returning it to his cheeks as if he had already missed the warmth of your palm, leaning in slightly to the touch. "You weren't supposed to be okay with it."

"I'm willing to give you everything you want, Kei." You said softly, now cupping both his cheek as you wiped of the warm tears with your thumb. He opened your eyes to look at you. "And you want this, right?" You smiled ever so kindly, yet he saw melancholy in your eyes as you asked him.

"No, of course not. God, [YF/N]." His voiced lingered with fear and anxiousness along with his gaze. Seeing you like this made his heart ache. He removed his hand from yours, as he bent down his body, his arms wrapped around your waist, his face buried into your nape, the tears that made contact with your skin made you flinch slightly. "Why are you so willing to let me go...? Did you want to break up..?" He breathed out, his voice shaky.

"Of course not, Kei. I only do what you want." You whispered in his ears, circling your arms around his neck, breathing in his minty scent that you loved so much, "What even crossed your mind?"

He remained silent, his hold around you beginning to tighten, burying his face deeper into your nape. "Sugawara-san." The sudden mention of the random name surprised you, but you didn't say anything, waiting for him to continue, "I can never be like him. Sweet, kind, deserving of someone like you. God, I can't even compete. I'm an asshole towards you around others while he can treat you well in private, and in public."

"Kei, why him? Neither Suga-san nor I have feelings for one another." You said in a soothing voice, lightly brushing his hair with your fingertips—a gesture he always loved. "You just seem so perfect together." He said.

You unclasped your hold around him, lightly pushing him off just so you could see his face as you cupped both his cheeks, "Kei, I don't care if you can't show me affection in public." You took notice that his tears haven't ceased, "I know you love me and that's enough for me."

You swallowed a hard lump in your throat, staring into his eyes that were filled with tears, "Do you still want to break up with me?"

His answer was immediate, in a swift motion, he leaned down and captured your lips, giving you a long, passionate kiss filled with love, and you returned his action, a tear rolling down your cheeks as you felt your cheeks warmed, your heart close to leaping out of joy.

Once you two separated, you smiled at each other, soon lightly laughing at each other's puffy eyes from the crying.

"God, I love you so much, [YF/N]." He moved a few strands of your hair from your forehead and gave it a small kiss.

"And I love you, too, Kei." You responded, holding his hand and bringing it up to your lips to give it a light kiss, causing him to blush. "Ah, right, we're in public. Sorry, Kei." You were about to let go of his hand when he held your tightly.

"No more of that..." He mumbled, the two of you proceeded to your house hand in hand, giving each other a goodbye kiss.

The next day, he picked you up, gave you a good morning kiss, held your hand, and gave you another kiss whenever you separated, be it in school, or in the classroom where there were a lot of people.
