Upon the platform, 3.5 inches away from the mic he stands
Hands directed to his behind
Eyes gazing across the millions of people congregated in the room
The word is BEAUTY
He's asked to spell the word beauty
He takes a moment to think, think carefully as he prepares himself to ramble in an ongoing monologue
He gulps.
"Beauty? Can I have the definition please?"
The judge responds, "Beauty is defined-"
And like that, he cuts her off
His monologue begins.
"How do we define beauty? This has been puzzling me for a while, years even.
What do we consider beauty anyway?
Is it the way we look? perfectly shaped faces with perfect facial features?
Astonishing physiques with well-toned bodies?
Mesmerizing eyes with plumped up lips?
Faces caked and baked with makeup? lipsticks, eyeliner, eyeshadow, powder, highlight, blush?
Are these characteristics of beauty?
Is this what we consider perfection?
But nobody's perfect, right?
Then what is beauty?"
"Does it amount to what we wear?
Fashion trends? Creating iconic lewks?
Or rather is it a mixture of facial features, physiques and outfits?
Are these the combination of qualities that serve as guidelines or rather rules to judge what's considered beauty?
I think not"
"Beauty is not the external features, or what's deemed pretty
But rather, beauty is what's on the inside
Beauty is acts of kindness
Beauty is self-love
Beauty is being confident
Beauty is staying true to yourself"-
The judge interrupts, "A touching speech I might add but this is a spelling bee, now do you plan to spell the word, sir?"
Snapped, he's snapped back to reality
There he is, still on stage 2 minutes later
Spotlight on him
"Oh, the word" he exclaims
He spells it
"B-E-A-U-T-Y, BEAUTY"
He adds, "That's my definition of beauty,
Well, true beauty that is".
