Chapter 14

On our last night at the lake house we sat on the back porch next to the fire pit. I had my gray sweatpants on and a black sweatshirt from PINK with my ugg moccasin slippers. I sat on the wooden bench with my head on Coles chest as he sang his favorite songs to me.

"I love your voice" I said closing my eyes.

"And I love you" Cole laughed.

I rolled my eyes and laughed "your so corny!"

Cole wrapped his arms around me tight and we sat in silence listening to the crickets chirp.

"I wish we could stay here forever" I sighed.

"Yeah we'd never go back to all the drama" cole smiled.

"And my step mom" I said sitting up in excitement.

"I promise when the time is right we will run away, we will come here and live here together away from everything" Cole said equally as excited.

"You would run away with me?" I smiled blushing.

"I would run away with you any day Briella Rose" he said squeezing my hands.

The next morning we packed all our stuff and made food for the trip back home. Coles parents left a day before us since we came in separate cars.

Cole put back the spare key behind one of the plants outside and we finally made our trip home.

He dropped me off at my house and I made my way inside figuring it wasn't home. Suddenly I heard a noise from upstairs. I looked up at the staircase afraid to to make a noise.

I opened the refrigerator, their was no food. Obviously step monster hasn't been home since I left. My heart began to rase after I heard another noise from upstairs.

I grabbed a broom from my kitchen closet like a total idiot and creeped up the staircase. The noise was coming from the master bedroom, I walked slowly to the door with the broom in a hitting position.

I dropped the broom as I saw the familiar person rummaging though the closet. I screaming startling my father and making him hit is head on the door.

He turned around and I ran into his arms to hug him.

"Well it looks like you haven't been here in weeks! Did you and Natalie take a mother daughter vacation?" My dad asked wrapping his arms around me.

"Hell no"I said giving him a disgusted look.

"Well where is she?" He said confused.

"I'm not exactly sure..she hasn't been home all weekend"

I could see the pain in my dads eyes and I looked down at the floor guiltily even though their was no reason for me to feel guilty.

"Well where have you been?" He said crossing his arms.

"How did you no I wasn't home!" I said mimicking him.

He raised his eyebrows and walked over to the doorway where I had placed my suitcase.

A knot churned in my stomach.

"I..was..on vacation" I smiled.

He sat down on his bed this a "not gunna fly" look on his face.

"Well my boyfriends parents took me to their lake house" I mumbled.

"Your what to you where?!"

I covered my face with my hands and threw myself into the pillows on his bed.

"When can I meet him?"

Oh god. My dad meeting my boyfriend. Honestly I feel bad for Cole my parents aren't as cool with everything as his are.
