(Both kingdoms are just made up from my head)
Sometimes, Tommy wished he wasn't royalty.
Prince Thomas Lee Bass-Papadimitriou, firstborn son of Athelazia. He wanted that name to die.
He sighed, slumping over in his throne as he watched the citizens below dance the night away. He wanted to be down there, socializing with his people and making friends. But his parents always said,'Thomas, you must not interact with commoners. What if you were to fall in love with one? Do you know what would do to our bloodline?'
"Thomas! Sit up straight!" His father scolded. Tommy did, but groaned,"But Father, I want to go talk to people." His mother put a gentle had on his shoulder,"Sweets, you don't want to engage with the commoners now do you?"
"Mother, I want to make friends! I wanna fall in love with someone!"
"Thomas, be patient. We've been consulting with other rulers and....I was going to keep this a surprise but....we've found a princess we want you to marry."
Tommy felt his blood start boiling. He jolted up in his seat,"What?! You know I'm gay! I'm not just going to fall in love with some random-"
The queen had a panicked look on her face,"Darling, please. Keep your voice down." Tommy's father squeezed his shoulder,"Thomas, we do consider your feelings when we talk to fellow kings, queens, emperors, empresses. We think you'll like this princess. He is sweet and very beautiful." Tommy's eyes widened,"He? But....you just said princess."
The king shrugged with a smile,"He's a very effeminate young man. He wears gowns instead of suits, loves cooking, and all together prefers the role of a princess. I met him two weeks ago. You'll be meeting him at the Greeting this evening. Please Thomas, give him a chance."
Tommy's heart was warmed at his parents efforts. They had been trying to get him with a girl for years. But ever since he expressed his attraction towards boys, his parents had stopped asking other kings about their daughters and instead, inquired about their sons.
The rest of the evening Tommy was ecstatic, eyes scanning the masses for any sign of a boy in a gown. Hour after hour ticked by, and the prince was growing anxious. What if the princess didn't like his childish personality? What if he thought he was too forward?
Soon, the time came and the guests took their seats at the lavish, white-clothed tables of the ballroom. Tommy gulped, straightening the lapels of his royal blue and gold overcoat,"Mother...Father. I...I'm a little nervous." His mother kissed the top of his head,"You'll be fine, dear. Just smile and speak politely as you've always been taught."
Tommy nodded and faced the velvet carpet laid out to the huge, wooden, engraved doors of the ballroom. The doors opened and the king and queen of Melorath stepped in. Behind them walked a line of palace gaurds, hiding the princess from Tommy's view. He, not wanting to seem...creepy, restrained himself from craning his neck.
His parents walked up and greeted each other with expert bows and curtsy's. His mother smiled at Melorath's queen,"It's wonderful to see you, Shirley. How has your son been." The king, Odie, chuckled,"He's been talking about this day nonstop. He can't wait to meet the prince."
Tommy took a deep breath, fluffing his hair subtly. King Odie stepped onto the raised platform at the front of the ballroom. Tommy smiled, cursing himself for shaking, and shook the man's hand,"I'm Prince Thomas. A pleasure to meet you sir." The king seemed impressed, smiling at Tommy's greeting.
Tommy then greeted the queen. Queen Shirley muttered,"My dear, he'll simply adore you." King Odie turned and gestured to the line of guards with an outstretched arm. The blue uniforms parted and Tommy gasped. Standing there, in a pink, gothic victorian ball gown, was a petite blonde. He had gorgeously tanned skin and stared curiously around the room with sapphire blue eyes.
"Allow me to introduce you to my son. Princess Vincent Neil Wharton."
Tommy couldn't keep the smile off his face as Princess Vincent blushed at the sound of his surname. He walked smoothly down the aisle until he was a few feet from the princess. He bowed, still grinning. Princess Vincent returned the gesture with a graceful curtsy.
"Greetings, I am Vincent. But I would be very pleased if you would call me Vince."
Gods, that voice was an angel's. The blonde smiled back at him and they joined hands, gazing at each other. Tommy sighed, blushing. If this wasn't love at first sight he didn't know what was,"I'm Prince Thomas. Call me Tommy."
A few moments later, Tommy was on the dance floor with Vince in his arms. He had one arm wrapped around the princess, discovering that he had a sloping waist and wide, curvy hips. Vince's arm was wrapped around his rib cage. Their other hands were held at shoulder level, fingers intertwined.
"You're very pretty, Vince. The dress suits you well," Tommy said, gently swaying the princess back and forth. Vince giggled, blushing,"You look like a god, Tommy. You're eyes are so warm. Like pools of liquid chocolate." Tommy blushed, eyes widening.
Vince glanced away, worried he had gone a bit too far. But Tommy smiled and kissed his hands, letting his lips lingering just a little longer than one would for a casual encounter with a lady.
He twirled Vince slowly, watching the blonde's eyes fall shut as his gown flowed around him. He looked so ethereal, angelic. He brought the princess back in only for Vince's hands to flatten against his chest, their lips inches from each other.
But instead of being embarrassed, the two giggled softly. If this wasn't true love, Tommy didn't know what was. Laughing he picked Vince up, spinning them around. Vince squealed and laughed, using his hand to keep his flowery headpiece from falling off. He loved Tommy. He had finally found someone who complimented his sugary, effeminate personality. The prince was charming, handsome, and ludicrously funny.
Vince giggled and grinned and Tommy hoisted him up to hold him bridal style. The prince began peppering his face and lips in dew-soft kisses,"Mwah, mwah, mwah, mwah, mwah! Ahaha, you're so sweet and adorable and so beautiful too. You're more than I could ever have hoped for. You're perfect!" Vince nuzzled Tommy's face, kissing his lover's jaw and mewling softly.
The guests were applauding and congratulating them as they saw that the courtship was a huge success. Tommy set Vince down and they embraced so tightly, some of Vince's gown fell around Tommy's legs. You could hardly tell where one started and the other began.
Tommy was grinning, eyes closed as he rested his head on Vince's shoulder. He opened them only to get the attention of their parents and mouth a gleeful,'Thank you.'
