Mask Off, Spot On

Chapter 6.2

As he stared back at you, you sidely glanced back to your fairytale book, and back at him.

"Sensei... have you been reading it with me..?" You ask.

"Yes." He simply answers.

"...For how long...?"

"More less, from the start."

"...Why?"

"...You seemed to be enjoying it, and so I was... monitoring if there was any age-restriction content."

"..."
You stared at him blankly, incredulous with his lame excuse, before your belly began having this bubbly feeling which spread throughout your whole body. You tried to keep this within you, but at some point, you couldn't contain it any longer, and so, you began laughing your heart out.
It was now Kakashi's turn to stare blankly at you, frozen in place, as he enjoyed this joyous moment you were sharing with yourself. He smiled softly as you chuckled, now trying to lower your tone once again.
You take a deep breath and look up to your sensei, smiling softly and wryly at him.
"Sensei, I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I did, then."

When you noticed his eye smiling so softly and gently at you, a soft blush tinted your cheeks, making you look down to your lap shyly.

His hand slowly moved up to your face, and his warm palm rested on your cheek, lifting you head to look up at him. It was as if he wanted to see you dying with embarrassment, and so, you pouted instinctively at the thought, making hin chuckle.
You felt your cheeks gain a deeper shade of red as you heard his soft laugh, as enjoyable as music was to your ears.

You were about to mumble his name out loud, calling out to him, so he would either stop or get whatever he was doing over with, but a sudden and loud knocking on your door froze the two of you midway through your actions.
You quickly jump out of the couch and head to the door, your voice cracking as you questioned "Who's there?"

Not to your surprise, Naruto was there behind the door, along with Sakura and Sasuke.
It had been the second time this had happened with Naruto...

"[Y/N]-chan, sorry to bother you. We thought sensei would answer the door instead." Sakura said, a nervoud smile plastered on her face.

"Why would you think that?!" You ask, your blood boiling with nervousness.

"Well, Kakashi-sensei's supposed to be taking care of you, and you're supposed to be resting." Sakura stated, a small knowing smirk plastered on her face, as she crossed her arms in front of her chest, as if both scolding and teasing you at the same time. You softly sight in relief with her response.

"So, yeah! [Y/N]-chan! We just wanted to talk with Kakashi-sensei...-- and see how you were doing, of course." Naruto stated, a nervous laughter reaching out from his mouth, gaining him a glare from the other team members. You knew they were here because of whatever it was they were hiding from you, and at this point, you didn't see any other reason to why you should pretend you weren't aware of it.

"You guys look and sound kinda shady right now, but I'll let you in anyway as a token of our friendship." You state back, glancing suspiciously at the trio.

You were about to move aside to let them in, but a hand placed above you, leaning on the front door, leaving you with no escape.
You felt a chill running down the nape of your neck, your body warning you that the person behind you was a bit much too close, and you almost feel sweat running down your cheek with nervousness.

"There's no need. [Y/N], you can go back inside and rest, we'll talk outside, here." Kakashi said.
Feeling as if you had no other choice (and even if you had, you probably wouldn't pick it instead), you slide away from your sensei's grasp, and trot like a robot back inside the house.

A tingly feeling suddenly reached your throat, and you almost felt like throwing it out. This feeling turned your stomach upside down, and in only a matter of a few seconds, drained all the colour from your features.
A sickening feeling, or rather, aura that seemed to grow stronger by the second, realization suddenly hit you, and you turned around abruptly to your teammates before your sensei could close the door.

As he turned around to close it, he immediately noticed your features, and began running your way as soon as your body began to feel heavy.

"Sense--...!" Was all you could muster before darkness overcame you.

You were so caught up in your fantasy-like dream of a lifetime, you'd completely forgotten how in any moment, one of the many attacks that nearly destroyed Konoha could come at any second.
Your chakra was weak, but was able to sense the upcoming wave of massive destruction that headed your way.

Your lasy moments were reaching to an end, and so, you simply wanted to do your best and use them wisely from here on out.
