That night had been hard for Tegan. She could barely sleep with the pain shooting through her body. Daryl tried his best to comfort her, but after a while she gave up.
"I just want to shower," she sighed laying on her back. Her soft fingers slid down her face. "I just want to sleep." She turned her head towards Daryl who stared at her intently.
"I know," he said chewing on his lip.
"Dare, can I ask you a question?" She asked. Her hand drifted from her face over to the back of his head, playing with his hair gently.
"Sure," he mumbled leaning his head on her arm.
"Why me?" She questioned. He gave her a puzzled look, so she continued. "Why have you fallen for me? After all the stories I've heard about you and Carol, why did you chose me?"
"I feel something for you I never felt for Carol or anyone else. Why does it matter?" He hated expressing his feelings even though he had plenty of times to the young woman.
"I guess it doesn't matter," she mumbled. She went to remove her hand from his head and lay against her chest, but he grabbed it, tightly.
"All that matters is I love you," Daryl said running his hand up her arm.
"I love you, too," Tegan said. Daryl leaned over and placed a kiss on her lips. "Get some sleep." Daryl nodded and rolled back onto his pillow. It wasn't long until soft snores filled the room. Tegan lay awake watching the grown man next to her sleep like a baby. By the time morning came Tegan only had a few hours of sleep.
"Let me help you," Daryl mumbled, flinging himself out of bed to help Tegan get herself dressed.
"Dare, I'm fine. I can do it," the girl grumbled. Daryl stood back and watched as she tried to slid her button up shirt over her bruised body. She winced and that was all it took for Daryl to cut in.
"I'm helping," he informed her. Carefully, he maneuvered the long sleeve brown shirt over her arms before doing up all the buttons.
"You know, I hate you seeing me like this. I'm not weak," she told him slipping a foot into the hole of her jeans.
"You are one of the strongest women I know," Daryl grunted as she used him to help her stand.
"How sweet. Daryl Dixon, you sure can be a sweetheart," Tegan giggled.
"Stop," Daryl grumbled, zipping up her pants. He helped slid her boots on before they made their way outside.
"Good morning!" Angie had said to the couple that walked out the front doors.
"Hey Ang! How did you sleep?" Tegan asked her friend.
"Not Kevin was right. The couch was pretty comfortable!" She laughed.
"Not Kevin?" Daryl grumbled raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, right, Glenn is his real name" Angie explained. The two just shook their heads and didn't care to ask about the new found nickname.
"Are you coming back with us?" Tegan asked the long haired girl.
"Where?" Angie asked laying a hand on Fangs soft head.
"Alexandria. Our home," Tegan smiled. Daryl held the girls petite hand in his large one.
"I was planning on leaving today," Angie told her a small frown playing at her lips.
"What?! You can't leave! You just got here!" Tegan exclaimed. Daryl gripped the upset girls hand tighter. He could hear the strain in her voice from the pain in her chest.
