Tegan watched as the vehicle drove off. She knew they would be okay. They always were, but for some reason, this time, she felt a pang in her stomach. Something warning her. She assumed it was just from running with the bruised ribs, but nonetheless it made her worry.
"Rick!" The young woman called as she saw Rick walking down the street. The old sheriff stopped and turned towards her.
"What's up Tegan?" he asked as she got closer. His hands were placed perfectly on his hips like always.
"Do you know where they were headed?" She asked. She wasn't dumb enough to go after them. Not yet at least. If they took too long for her liking she would.
"They didn't say. Daryl had a place in mind though," Rick nodded before turning away from the girl.
"Come on, T," Aaron said, lightly grabbing Tegan's arm and leading her back to the house. They made themselves breakfast and ate it in silence. Eric stared at the quiet girl across the table who barely touched her food. She stood up and threw what was left on her plate in the trash before grabbing her crossbow and going back outside to the guard tower.
"Hey," Abraham nodded as the girl climbed up the post to stand next to him.
"Hey," she mumbled pulling her crossbow into her chest.
"It's my shift," Abraham said looking down at the small woman next to him.
"You can go," she said smiling up at him. "I got it."
"Why don't I stay and you go?" he asked sarcastically.
"Listen, it doesn't matter what you say. I am staying. So either stay or go, it doesn't matter to me," she said with a sassy attitude. Abraham smiled at her.
"Want a cigar?" He asked holding two in his hand.
"No thanks," she chuckled.
"Suite yourself," he lit one up as she watched him.
"That shit is gross. How can you do that?" She asked him.
"Cigars are not gross! They are gift sent down from heaven! If Miss Little Bo Peep here ever tried a good cigar you would know," he scoffed at her.
"Alright, alright. I'm more of a drinker than a smoker I guess," Tegan laughed at her fellow ginger.
"I do like drinking, myself, but I try to stay away from it now a days," he said taking a big puff.
"Can I ask you a question?" She asked.
"Why not," he said with a shrug.
"Do you think its dumb to fall in love in a world like this?" Her voice was frail.
"Then I must be the dumbest son of a bitch out there," he smirked down at her.
"Why's that?" She asked.
"I fell for Rosita, broke up with her because I fell for Sasha. I fell in love with two girls," he chuckled before placing the cigar in between his teeth.
"I'm in love with Daryl," Tegan said glancing up at Abraham.
"No shit. Everyone knows that," he laughed.
"I've never been in love before. Everytime he goes out there I feel like a hole was ripped in my chest. What if he doesn't come back?" She said it as more of a rhetorical question.
"Then you move on, but Daryl is tougher than a solid steel nutsack. He will be fine," Abraham said. Tegan nodded, but didn't say anymore.
"Help! Help! Something's wrong with Maggie!" A petite female voice rang through the air. Tegan climbed down the ladder as fast as she could. As she got closer she heard a scream come from inside the house.
"What happened?" Tegan asked bending down next to the crumpled pregnant woman on the floor.
"I think theres something wrong with the baby," she cried.
"We have to get her to the Hilltop. Get Rick and everyone else. We need to leave now!" Tegan ordered Enid. The young girl nodded and ran. Tegan stayed with Maggie and once everything was ready she helped her into the RV.
Rick, Carl, Michonne, Abraham, Sasha, Rosita, and Eugene all piled into the RV. Tegan stayed in the back right next to Maggie, holding her hand. She felt the RV come to a stop not to far down the road.
"I'll be right back," she whispered to Maggie before making her way to the front. "What's happening?" There were too many people blocking the windshield for her to see.
"Get in the back and stay with Maggie. Don't come out," Aaron growled. "Theres people blocking the road." Tegan nodded and climbed into the back again. She could hear words being exchanged, but couldn't make out what they were saying. A few minutes later they were moving again. Carl came into the back to check on the girls.
"It was the Saviors," he said to Tegan.
"How many?" She asked.
"I don't know. 10 to 15 maybe," Carl said. Tegan nodded. "You shouldn't have come."
"Why not?" She asked.
"You're still healing," he said.
"I'm fine Carl. I don't need advice from a teenager," she scoffed. Carl rolled his eyes.
The RV stopped again. Tegan held her breath as she listened to the men up front.
"Theres gotta be at least 20 of them and they are all different from last time," Abraham said to Rick.
"Turn around. Go slow," Rick said. Abraham followed Rick's orders and this happened a few more times until they were out of options.
"Come on, T. Help me grab Maggie," Aaron said to the woman.
"What's happening?" Tegan asked.
"We are walking. Eugene is taking the RV to distract them," Aaron told her. Once out of the RV Abraham took over for Tegan as she struggled to hold up the one end of the board.
"Guys, I can walk," Maggie whispered.
"Just relax. We got you," Aaron said to her. The group made their way through the woods, everyone remaining quiet. Then it happened. The whistles, all around them.
"What's that?" Tegan whispered standing close to Carl.
"The Saviors," he snarled.
Out of the woods came about 100 men and women with guns and other various weapons. They were royally fucked.
