DAVID

I've just wondered about that for a while.

Natalie's words kept me up for the remainder of the night.

I've just wondered about that for a while.

I turned them over and over in my head, like a coin between my fingers, backwards and forwards.

I've just wondered about that for a while.

If I was being honest, I suppose there had been times over the last year that I had wondered as well.

When what felt like the whole world was pushing you towards one another, again and again, you do have your moments of curiosity.

I'm sure that was it, just a moment of curiosity fueled by alcohol, it had to be. Anything else was too hard to think about.

She was my best friend, my assistant, the person who kept me sane through all the late night editing and the boring bullshit.

That had to be all it was.

The house had returned to its normal buzz by 10 am.

From my bed I could hear people coming and going, people laughing and play fighting, ideas being hurled around for different vlog bits and content. All the sounds that usually got me up in the morning, camera in hand, ready for another day of adventures.

But I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

I didn't know what I would do when I saw her.

Was I supposed to bring it up? Was I supposed to pretend it never happened?

And in front of everyone? I was like a fish out of water, a ball of nervous energy. The whole thing felt like an out of body experience.

Maybe it's better if she comes to me? I thought. That way it's just the two of us in my room.

The thought of the two of us alone sent a weird wave of electricity through me.

Maybe that isn't such a good idea.

At midday there was knock on my bedroom door.

'Come in.' I said, my pulse going through the roof.

'Hey.' Taylor said quietly, coming in and closing the door behind her. 'Are you okay? You've usually surfaced by now.'

'Um, yeah, yeah I'm fine.' I sighed, relief coursing through me.

'Okay, well, should I tell everyone you'll be out soon to film?'

'Is-Is Natalie out there?' I asked.

'No. She left as soon as I got here this morning, she said you had given her a heap of errands to run.' She said, obviously confused.

'Oh, yeah. Um, that's right, I did.' I quickly covered up.

'Are you sure you're okay?'

I felt like somehow Taylor knew, like it was written across the top of my head in big, blaring letters. NAT AND I KISSED.

I flung my hand across my forehead.

'You know, on second thoughts, I actually feel like crap. I think I just need a down day.'

'You? A down day? You practically had pneumonia a couple of months ago, but you still made Natalie drive you around in the Tesla all day.'

My heart jumped at hearing her name, making me sink further into my sheets.
