DAVID
Natalie's words had me in knots for days.
I think every love is essential. Yes, they don't all last forever, but they take you where you need to go, and one day you'll fall in love with a girl, and that will be it. It will be the last girl, and it will be forever.
And maybe she was right, maybe one day it would last forever.
But all I could seem to think about was the last time and how I almost died when she walked out the door.
I suppose it wasn't just the heartache that stopped me from ever pursuing something serious.
Trust was another big factor.
The bigger the channel got, the bigger my career got, the smaller the circle of people I could trust got. And I was struggling more and more to make new friends out of pure sincereness.
It was all just a mess I usually avoided navigating.
Usually.

'Nat!' I yelled from the living room, checking the time on my phone. 'Hurry up, we gotta go!'
'David Dobrik, I swear to God.' She said, finally exiting her bedroom, still fiddling with her earrings.
As had become normal lately, I instantly took notice of what she was wearing and how she looked, which had really started to weird me out when I thought about it. I'd never paid any attention to how she looked in the past. But now I found myself constantly giving her a once over.
'Do you really have to wear that shirt?' I asked, noticing how little there was of it.
'What's wrong with this shirt?' She said, tugging on the bottom of it, making the low cut of it seem even lower.
'Jesus, Natalie.' I said, taking off my denim jacket and draping it across her shoulders.
'Oh my god.' She said sarcastically, gripping onto the front of the jacket. 'Does this mean we're going steady?'
I just rolled my eyes at her, trying to ignore the tiny bird that seemed to be trapped inside my ribcage, and what felt like the ends of its wings running along the bottom of my heart.
'Dude, seriously though, what is your problem?' She asked as we got in the tesla. 'You weren't into the dress I was wearing last night either.'
'Well, maybe I just think your taste in fashion is rubbish.' I shrugged.
'Not possible.' She grinned. 'I always look good.'
Yeah, that's my fucking problem. I thought.
We soon pulled up out the front of our favourite bar, instantly greeted by our group of friends.
'Took your sweet ass time.' Zane laughed, slinging his arms around both me and Natalie as we walked through the door.
'Yeah, well, you know how long she takes to get ready.' I said, gesturing to the girl on his left.
'You are seriously like two seconds away from having your arse handed to you, dude.' She huffed at me.
'Ya'll are so cute with your couples quarrels.' Zane sing-songed, before skipping towards the bar.
Natalie and I just looked at each other.
'Is it just me, or is he already pretty wasted?' I asked, pointing in the direction that Zane had just bounded off in.
'Oh, he's totally off his face already.' Natalie laughed, lopping her arm through mine, making my heart beat wildly in my chest.
