Airports always fascinated me. They always told a story.

There were people everywhere. Going to see something new, or coming home to what was familiar.

They were sleepy or excited or both.

I was obviously the excited one out of the pair of us. Natalie sat with her head on my shoulder, trying to keep herself awake.

'All good?' I asked her quietly, gently shaking the shoulder she was rested on.

'I promise I'll be awake by the time our flight takes off.'

'You should sleep on the plane, we have a big twenty four hours ahead of us.'

'But, you said we had work to do.' Natalie said, lifting her head to look at me.

'Oh, I just said that so I didn't have to sit next to Jason.'

'Hey!' The older man said from the other side of me.

'You snore man.' I laughed as Natalie laid her head back down on my shoulder. I could feel her silently chuckle against me.

'Well, you assholes have fun, I'm going to head down to my gate. See you in a bit.'

The two of us watched as Jason headed down the long run of gates, until he was completely out of sight.

'Hmmm.' Natalie sighed, before yawning.

'You're seriously tired dude. Did something keep you up last night?'

I instantly felt her body go tense against mine.

'Ah, no, I-I don't think so.' She mumbled, sitting up and adjusting her glasses.

Instantly I knew I'd put my foot in it.

She, just like me, had been kept up for a substantial amount of the night, thinking about the kiss that almost happened on the living room floor.

What the hell was going on?

I had asked myself that over and over the night before, trying to make sense of the little moments we seemed to keep having.

It was like in an instant we were having fun and being us, and the next we were within breathing distance of each other and the whole atmosphere seemed to just turn on its head.

I'd been the instigator last night. It was like I suddenly became aware of how close her lips were to mine and I just had to close that gap between us. It was an overpowering and intoxicating feeling.

I'd been both thankful and dissatisfied when I felt her cheek under my lips.

'Flight 483, direct to Las Vegas, First Class now boarding.'

'That's us Dave.' Natalie said, bringing me out of last night's thoughts.

Natalie and I didn't say a word to each other until we were sitting comfortably in our seats.

'Okay.' Natalie said, getting out her laptop. 'So let's go over the stuff we have planned for the vlog while we're in Vegas.'

I reached over and slowly closed her computer. 'Nat, we've already been through it. Sleep.'

She sent me an appreciative smile, before sliding her laptop back into her bag.

'Wake me when we get there?' She asked, closing her eyes.

'Nah, I think I'll just leave you on the plane.' I answered back.

'Dickhead.' She laughed quietly, eyes still shut.
