Mckayla
~Nina and I walked out the bedroom toward the front of the house where the pack gathered outside.
Before I opened the door I could feel the packs tension roaming through each Were like a wire line. There was an uninvited Were in their territory. Our territory. I was still trying to get myself use to that. I moved through the crowd of Weres as I held onto Nina's hand tight not wanting to disconnect from her.
I could hear my daughter arguing with Rachel to let her go and I scowled. "Kaylee...quiet," I demanded before having a clear view.
I looked at Rachel holding Kaylee up as her legs and arms hung carefree but unmoving. I was glad I didn't have to tell her twice.
"Come to me," I told her and Rachel put her down as Kaylee obediently listened.
"Wow...so, it is true?" A familiar voice made me turn straight to him as my eyes widen with disbelief.
My heart pounded as my breathing forcibly blew in and out. "C-Cormic..." I stuttered slightly; just enough to have everyone else furrowing brows at me.
Nina hesitated but moved anyway passed me and spoke. Her eyes scrutinized him and then cleared into a polite smile. I swallowed. "Hello. I'm Nina. Packs Prima..."
Cormic arched both brows looking a bit surprised; her being a submissive and all. He smiled charmingly. "Hmm...a submissive with authority and beaut--"
My loud almost savage snarl shut his words off like a stereo being turned off and he averted quicker than I ever seen him do.
"My apology Kayla," he cleared his throat looking up to me a little. "I did not know she was yours."
I relaxed a bit realizing he meant no harm. After all, we hadn't completed our mating bond, so he couldn't smell her mated to me. "Give us privacy." Most of the pack understood, heading into the house or off to their own homes, as Nina, my sister, and Malcolm staid.
Malcolm was second so it made sense for him to stay, along with Nina as Prima. Rachel would never take no for an answer and she was my sister after all. I could hear Kaylee arguing with Sara as she was practically dragged in the house.
I grimaced.
"Fine little girl you have..."
"Why are you here?" Malcolm shot out. Here he was acting as the lead of this pack. I wasn't Alpha yet but I was still the top wolf here.
"Malcolm shut up," I snarled.
Malcolm snarled, frowning. "You're not--"
"If I have to tell you to shut the fuck up again, I will brake your fucking jaw as a guarantee," I snarled as one last warning.
He opened his mouth pausing as Cormic arched his brow amusingly. It looked like Cormic wanted to see that happen.
"Why are you here?" I asked Cormic more nicely.
Cormic looked at me and then Nina. "You've moved on real nicely," he said with a hint of anger.
"What did you expect?" I said.
It was abundantly clear that everyone around us was out of the loop on our conversation.
I had a life in between the times they knew me. Nina gave me a questioning look that forced me to make a decision.
"Can we speak freely?" Cormic asked.
I didn't respond as quick as I should've, earning a suspicious glare from Nina. I nodded.
