Mckayla
~It felt too good to shift back, but my full belly and drowsiness forced me to shift human. My eyelids were too heavy to open right away. My hands were dry and sticky, alerting me of my possible activities. My canines were still exposed; shifting taking much longer than it ever had. Forty minutes, and I was still half shifted.
I slicked my tongue around my sharp thick canines, snarling from the famish meal my tastebuds remembered.
Opening my eyes, I could see everything clearer. My sapphire glow, flickered like a light about to go out, finally settling on the gold shade of color.
My hands, deformed by the shift, scraping painfully against the concrete ground. I sniffed, tilting my head up as I caught the faint aroma of Weres near by. I was further underground somewhere.
"Thank the Gods." Sal's voice echoed through the room like a microphone connected to surround sound. "I was beginning to worry."
I huffed, feeling my lungs with enough air to last me a few minutes. "What are you talking about?" I slapped my hands against the concrete, pulling up to my knees; my eyes gradually opening to his presence. My body trembled as if relearning the use of my human body. I was getting tired of seeing him every time I opened my eyes. It had already been too long since I seen my family; my pack. I wondered how they were doing. I wouldn't be the same if I made it out of this. Would they even take me back? I couldn't afford to think that way. I knew Nina would never give up on finding me. None of them would, so I couldn't either.
"You've been wolf for five days..."
I grimaced, stifling the astonished sound that almost emanated out. No wonder it took so long for me to shift back.
I gazed around my ambiance, noticing that I was in a new room, this time with silver bars. It resembled a prison cell. "Don't you trust me?" I said exaggerated with a slur of humor.
"Now now, Kayla. Leave your sarcasm elsewhere."
"Where's Laurie...Rogue?"
"Their not here," he said vaguely. His eyes were still; too still, glaring at me.
"Rogue snuck off with her," I said relieved. I didn't need to ask him. I was speaking rhetorically. I snorted, "No wonder you have me somewhere new. You don't want rogue to report exactly where I was and her come banging down the door."
"You know," Sal gave me a long look, "this new found humor you developed...is not working for me."
"Then maybe you should let me go."
I scooted over near a wall at the far end, leaning against it exhausted and bored with this conversation. I closed my eyes, ignoring his presence.
"You think you're winning somehow," Sal said. His voice was much higher than his normal range. He usually always responded to me in monotone; calm and at ease with himself. I was beginning to upset him.
I paid no mind to his tantrum he was about to put on display. Taking in a few slow breaths, I stretched my arms out yawning.
"Kayla...don't push me." Growling his warning, I only laughed.
"What else can you possibly do to me? Torture me again. Great." I shook my head, tired of his same ranting threats. "No matter what...I will end on top and your blood spilling under me."
I gave him an assured look promising that moment.
Sal only nodded his head, almost realizing something. "This is the Kayla I know."
