Mckayla
~I woke up again, feeling feverish as my body temperature dropped from really high to low ranges. Throughout the day, Sal had injected me with more of his mixed hybrid blood.
I wouldn't resist any longer for the sake of Laurie. Sal assured me if I corporated she would be out of harms way and I believed Sal wouldn't break his word. Her life would be damaged enough losing her family because of me. I had turned her, rather she knew what that meant now or not.
I sat up slowly from the floor, leaning my back against the bed rails. I shivered on and off uncontrollably, as I felt my wolf literally clawing inside me to get out. The pain from my wolf trying to force a shift was slowly worsening and I couldn't hold control much longer.
The door opened and I thought it was Sal coming to inject me again but when I looked up, I thought my eyes were tricking me with some type of hallucination.
"Kayla..." I felt hands brush over my shoulder as I snarled out pain from the touch.
I looked up again realizing this wasn't a hallucination. Rogue kneeled over me, as she ended her touch. "Rogue..." I said weakly."What has my father done to you?" She snarled out. I could feel her eyes scanning my entire body. I tried repositioning myself as another wave of my wolf's fight for control began. I clenched my jaw, groaning out the pain, as I hunched over.
The sound of Rogue gasping, forced me to look up to her with hazy vision.
"Your back," she said appalled.
I shuddered a breath, knowing what she saw. I hadn't been able to see for myself but I felt it. It still ached and I believed it would never stop. There would be permanent deep scarring on my back forever. "It doesn't hurt as much, anymore. Not if I don't think about it."
"I'm sorry," she whispered.
Only one thought came into mind. "My daughter. Nina..."
"They're fine," Rogue said briskly, taking away my wry tone.
I nodded, thankful they were safe. "It doesn't look that bad..." I was trying to joke, which I rarely did. Nina had said countless times, I needed to get my sense of humor back.
Rogue gave me a pained look, her eyes deceiving the words that came from her mouth. "Not too bad."
"Bull shit," I grunted out.
Rogue looked at me and smiled ruefully. "Why aren't you fighting?"
"I can't."
"You can't. You are not one to quit." Rogue stood, offering me a hand. "Get up and fight your way out."
I looked at her hand sticking out to me and shrugged her offer away. I could smell Sal coming become he arrived and I wanted to stand, not showing weakness but couldn't seem to pull my upper body up straight enough for me to.
"Kayla...get your ass up and challenge my father." Rogue snarled, and I could sense how uncomfortable she was with me. She had never seen me so weak and defeated. It wasn't a look I ever carried. "I will fight for you--"
"No you won't." Sal walked in, interjecting Rogues plan to challenge him for me. "Kayla won't allow it." He smiled maliciously, crossing his arms over his chest. "Kayla wants to stay here. Ask her."
Rogue looked confused switching her gaze from her father to me.
He liked toying with us; with me. I wouldn't let him make me off to be that weak. "I can't leave. Not without someone first."
