5) New Beginnings

It was new years eve and I was with the Winchesters and Bobby, having a little celebration. The three of us were at Bobby's. Nothing too exciting, just having a few beers. Sam and Dean both managed to get themselves some ladies for the night. Dean's idea.

They'll both have someone to kiss at midnight. But not me. Like every year. I'll probably just take a shot when the ball drops. I ate my pizza and looked at Sam and Dean with their girlfriends. They seemed so happy.

I was sometimes jealous of Dean for always getting a hook up. Not that I'm the type to sleep around. He's had more relationships than anyone I know. I never got to have that chance. Bobby noticed my discomfort and walked over.

"Don't feel too upset. Being single isn't all bad. You'll get used to it." He said, patting my back. I rolled my eyes. Easier said than done I suppose. "Yeah, sure." I say and take a swig of my beer. I suddenly hear what sounded like wings.

Castiel was here. "Dean. I got your message. What did you need?" He asked, now walking over to the brothers. "What I needed was for you to bring your feathery ass down here and celebrate!" Dean replied. I couldn't help but snicker.

Castiel sighs. "Celebrate, Dean?" He asked, sounding rather frustrated. "Heck yeah. It's new years eve. What's the matter, haven't you ever celebrated anything before?" He says. "Yes. The birth of Christ." Cas answered.

"Well, today you're celebrating the new year!" Said Sam. Bobby looked at me. "You could kiss Cas?" He suggested. I blush hard and shove him slightly. "What?" He chuckles. "Shut up!" I whisper. "He's an angel.

No angel wants to be kissing a human." I add, not noticing Cas was standing right behind me now. "What about angels not wanting to kiss humans?" He asked from behind me, making me jump slightly.

I glared daggers at Bobby. "Nothing. It's from a movie, you wouldn't get it." Bobby says, grinning at you. You let out a mental sigh. "Well, anywho, you may as well stick around. The ball will be dropping in an hour." Said Bobby.

I look up at Cas. He looks down at me. He nods. "Very well. I shall stay for an hour." He says. I smiled a little at this. "D-do you wanna drink?" I asked, offering him a beer. "No thank you." He said politely."

I nod and set the beer back down. I've always been really shy, especially around Castiel. I always stutter when I speak to him. Truth be told, I had a bit of a crush on him. I would never admit that, but I think Sam and Dean have already caught on.

Bobby for sure knows. I guess the only one who hasn't caught on was the angel himself. Probably a good thing though. Angels are practically emotionless. If he found out about my feelings, things would be awkward between us.

Time skip

There was only 10 minutes to midnight. Sam, Dean, Bobby and the two girls were pretty wasted. Cas and I seemed to be the only ones sober. I did have a few drinks, but not enough to get myself drunk. We had been sitting at the kitchen table.

We were both kind of quiet the whole time. "S-so, what's your new years resolution?" I finally ask. Cas furrowed his eyebrows and tilts his head. Damn, he is too adorable! "What do you mean?" He asked.

"Like, wh-what do you plan on doing f-for the new year? Any changes? Goals?" I asked. "I'll keep doing what I already do, I suppose. My goals still remain the same." He told me. I nod. "And for you? Do have a... new years resolution?" He asked.

I smiled and scoffed lightly. "Y-yeah, but, it's stupid." I said, blushing now. "What is it? I won't judge you. It is not my place to." I couldn't help but chuckle at that. "Well... I-I'm hoping that this year... I-I'll hopefully, m-maybe... get a boyfriend?" I said.

"Find a lover?" He asked. I nod. "Have you never had a lover?" He asked. I avert my eyes and nod with embarrassment. "Well, whoever becomes your lover in the upcoming year will truly be blessed." 

I look back up at him as my face turns red. "Y-You think so?" I asked. He nods. "I know so. You're kind, caring, hard working, brave, smart, beautiful." He says, making me blush even more. Beautiful? I noticed he had his hand resting on mine.

He looks at me with a smile, which I almost never see him do. "You'll find love someday." He gives my hand a pat before pulling away. If only he wasn't so oblivious. "Hey, guys, get in here! It's almost time!" Dean shouts from the other room.

Cas sighs and stood up, going into the room the others were in. I got up and slowly followed. Everyone gathered around the tv. I stood next to Castiel. "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" Everyone shouts. Bobby opens up a bottle of champagne.

Sam and Dean both kiss their girlfriends. I look up at Cas. "Happy New Years, Cas." I said. I decided to be bold and kiss his cheek. It was short and quick, though I could feel his gaze on mine. "(Y/n)?" He asked.

My heart raced. I knew I shouldn't have done that. "S-sorry." I said, scratching the back of my head. I shivered when I felt his fingers grab my chin. This made me look up at him.

"Cas?" I asked. He says nothing. He just... kisses me! I shyly kiss back after a moment. I can't believe this is happening! Of all people he could kiss on new year, and Castiel chose me! But why? "YEAH, CAS! GET SOME!!!" Dean's drunk voice screams.

Everyone looked at us and we pulled away. I was red in the face. Cas glares daggers at Dean. "Ass butt." He says. Next thing I know, Cas had zapped us into some other room.

I looked up at him, confused. He seemed to calm down now that we were away from everyone. "(Y/n), if I may, I was hoping that I could be the one to be blessed to be with you?" My eyes widen at this.

"Y-you want t-to...  be my lo-lover?" I asked, cheeks flaring up. He nods. "I would love to be yours." Cas says. I couldn't help but grin like a school girl. "Yes! Of course!" I say excitedly.

Castiel grins and hugs me tightly. I snuggled into him. He was so warm and so comforting. We look at each other. "Thank you for blessing me with this." And with that, we kiss once more.
