💞 Getting Closer 💞

As the days pass, turning into weeks, turning into a month, Steven and Spinel continue to bond. Pearl had notified all of the Crystal Gems only a few days after she found out about the fact that Steven was falling for Spinel. Amethyst was supportive, but had a slight worry, for if Spinel had another "mood swing", turning her toxic. Garnet was proud that Steven was finally trying to find a girlfriend, but a bit shocked that he didn't end up with Connie. Connie and Steven were good on being friends, hopefully. Connie, Spinel, and Steven have all hung out and it never bothered Spinel nor Connie. They both actually talked to each other. Anyway, back to what we first were talking about. Bismuth saw it as a cute couple, if it worked out. Peridot just said, "Love is weird.. But good for Steven!" Lapis didn't respond when she got the news, her expression was mixed with shock and disgust. Spinel was constantly with Steven. He was the only person who seemed to make her happy. Steven felt the same. It was true they loved each other, but neither of them had the guts to ask the other out yet. Both of them were afraid of rejection. One was afraid of it because she doesn't want to lose (get rejected by) someone that she loves. The other was afraid because he wanted to seem perfect, and if he was rejected, that would tell him he isn't perfect.

It's been little over a month since Spinel first came back to Earth, and they've heard nothing from the diamonds. It doesn't matter much to them anyway, for they've been having a lot of fun on their own. During the days of January and some of Feburary, Steven and Spinel had went to a playground, hung out as they ate cookies and milk, went to one of those silly mirror museums (yknow?), went stargazing, put up Valentine's Day decorations (even if it isn't Valentine's Day yet), went to a skateboard park, traveled to another state for a vacation, played basketball, and just binge watched a movie with the other CGs, even Lapis. It was so wholesome, so happy. I wish I had a life like it. Anyway, let's get to the present..

Spinel sat next to Steven on the beach shore, the water splashing at their feet. "The past month has been funner than anything Pink Diamond and I would do." Steven sighed, "Yeah.. I'm nothing like her, and I wouldn't do the things she had done. I would never.. Abandon you.." He lowered his voice at the end, but Spinel still heard it. "I know you aren't Pink Diamond, nor like her. If you were like her, I wouldn't hang around." Steven looked to her, "Why do you hang around?" Spinel looked down, thinking of the words to describe it. "Well, you're funny, you care about me, and you actually play with me and want me around, and sometimes I just want to-" Spinel kissed his cheek for a moment and pulled away. Steven's face turned red, horribly red. Spinel just realized what she had done and looked away, all flustered. Steven gave a small snicker and put an arm around Spinel, pulling her closer to him.
