Old Mister Lee was watching me
A scruffy dog licked my face

"Please sir, I'm so lost!
My momma must be scared
I ran away and now I'm sorry
I just need money for the fare"
We worked so hard to earn our keep
there in that hovel on Dover street
The beds may have scratched us
but at least we could eat
Scrapper, my protector and pal
was by my side all the time
until the day he was stolen
and I was nabbed for a crime
So the tales I once fibbed
were truly now, mine to live
