Graybill
Dark and lonely here
He remembered these sewers
Scary, damp echoes
Shifty eyes caught him
Mister Lee's benefactor.
Scrapper growled at him
Though the dog was trapped
in a rusted cage nearby,
he knew Graybill's stench
Jeremy sat still
There was no other choice now.
What could the boy do?
Something was not right.
There was blood on Scrapper's paws
and he barely moved
"This is why," he said.
"You're puppy got himself hurt
and I want to help."
Mister Lee was mum
Graybill was known for his ways
Also his temper
"I'm ready right now
but we need a small favor
Isn't that right Lee?"
Mister Lee nodded
"Really small. Really easy."
The dog whined at them.
"All you have to do
is go home and act normal
and do one small thing."
Graybill walked closer
"Unlock a downstairs window
when you go to bed."
"I need to borrow
...a little money so we...
can get medicine"
"But my dad..." he said,
"He might get angry at me."
Jeremy told them
"But your dog will die
if we wait for permission.
We will pay him back."
Jeremy agreed
since Scrapper needed his help
so they took him home
and later that night
Jeremy snuck back downstairs
to do what he must...
