Lexy's POV
Today sure has been a mild one! Then again, we're still a new business. We don't have much competition with the bigger companies but we sure have been gaining more customers lately. It's 12:30. If Jen were here I'd go on my lunch break but I can't leave since I'm the only one here at the moment. If only I wasn't so anxious to get out of the apartment then I could've made me a lunch to bring with. Well, since no one is here currently you might as well get off your feet and rest. I sat down at the front counter and pulled up Instagram on my phone. My mind began to wander after a few minutes and before I knew it, I was thinking about Kent and what happened.

"Stop!! Please Kent stop!! You're hurting me!"
"Serves you right! Maybe this will teach you not to cheat and go behind my back!" he screamed.
I sobbed on the floor, "What are you talking about Kent? You know I would never cheat on you!"
"Oh stop your blubbering! Jackson said he saw you with another guy the other night. You lied to me when you said you were going out with friends!"
"I didn't lie!! After the movie I asked for some advice on what to get you for our 6 month anniversary! I wasn't cheating!" I continued to sob on the floor holding my sides. Crying didn't help the pain I felt from him kicking me and hitting me in the face.
"I don't believe you!! You're just trying to trick me!!"
He started to beat me again. Nothing I do stops the blows from coming. I must have passed out because when I woke up, Kent was no where to be found. I dragged myself to the bedroom and reached for my phone on my nightstand. I called Natalie. I couldn't stay with Kent anymore, this is the 4th time he's nearly beaten me to death.
As the phone rings I hear Natalie answer.
"Hello?" She said groggily.
"Nat. I need your-----help. Come get me---- quickly." I gasped, the pain nearly overwhelming.
"Lexy what's wrong!?" I could hear quick movement on the other end.
"Kent. He beat me again last night. He's----- convinced that I'm cheating---- on him."
"I'm on my way Lexy don't worry!! I'm in my car and on the way now! Where is Kent?"
"I don't know. I woke up---- on the floor a few---- moments ago. He probably went to the bar."
"I'm almost there, don't hang up. If you do I'll know Kent is there. How bad did he beat you?"
"Pretty bad. I can't move that well. And it hurts----- to breathe."
"Okay, I'm pulling up now.
I'm on my way in!! Hold on girl!"
I heard the front door swing open and lights being turned on. Natalie called out to me a few times but I could feel consciousness slipping away. I heard a gasp and Nat dropping on the floor on the phone with 911.

*End of flashback*

I heard the bell ring as the front door opened voices entering the shop saving me from reliving the nightmare much longer. I stood and walked behind the counter putting my hands in to my apron. 5 customers started walking up to the counter. I recognized one from this morning. What was her name again? It started with a 'C'. Oh yeah! Catherine. I put on a smile as they walked up.

Woods' POV
As we walked in to Coffee Express Paul started vlogging again. I wasn't paying that much attention as I was looking at the small building with a modern/rustic look to it. As we walked in the door I started looking around. It was a nice, average size with oak tables and stools. The decorations were simple but gave it a cozy feel. There are pictures of different coffee cups and drinks on the wall. As I looked towards the front I saw a girl with a pink top stand up and go behind the counter. As we got closer I heard Cat whisper "She's the barista who made my coffee this morning." We walked up to the counter and started looking at the menu board and I got a closer look at the barista. She looked like she was an inch or 2 shorter than me. She has soft brown hair and stunning green eyes!
"Hi I'm Alexis. What can I get for you guys today?" I heard her ask. I realized I had been staring and quickly looked back at the board behind her. Cat was the first one to order. "I'll take a medium hot hazelnut latte with whipped cream on top." "Sure thing! Would you like the caramel drizzle and cinnamon sprinkles on it like this morning?" Cat grinned, "Yes please! With how good it was it might be the only one I'll order!" Alexis chuckled, "I'm glad you enjoyed it! I can especially tell since you  brought friends." We all laughed."Really quick, is this going to be one payment or separate?" She asked. We all looked at each other and Patrick spoke up, "We'll do separate payments." She smiled and nodded. That smile is so cute! "And are they for here or to go?" "To go." "That'll be $4.75." As the others ordered I tried to make up my mind what I wanted to get. I hadn't noticed that Paul had finished ordering and they were now waiting on me to order. "Oh sorry! I honestly can't make up my mind. They all sound so good!" I said turning red with embarrassment. Alexis giggled, "What are some flavors that you like?" "I'm not that picky really. Would you pick something for me? I'll have it as a medium." She smiled "Sure. I'll get you the total after it's done then. What's the name?" "Woods". She nodded as she wrote my name on the cup. "Okay, I'll get those right out to you." We all said 'Thank you're and went to sit at a table.

Alexis' POV
As they went to go sit down I turned and started getting the coffees made. They all seem very nice and have a close relationships with each other. I wish I had a group of friends like that. Maybe then I wouldn't be so afraid and would know that I have people I can truly rely on. I also noticed that the one they call Woods had been staring at me. I don't really think anything of it. I'm definitely not ready to have a relationship. Especially since I haven't recovered from what Kent has done to me and I have trouble trusting people. He is very attractive though. As I got to the cup that said 'Woods' on it I quickly decided what flavor to do. I finished putting on the lid and put it on the tray to carry it over to the table that they sat at.

Woods' POV
I sat in silence as the others chatted while we waited for our coffee. I looked up and saw that Alexis was walking over with a tray. She set the tray down on the table and started handing out the coffees. She walked over to me, and handed me my drink. "You're total is $5 even." I pulled out my wallet and handed her the money. "So what flavor did you pick for me?" I asked. "I did a simple Caramel Vanilla latte. I even put caramel drizzle on the whip." She said with a smile. "Okay! Thanks! I appreciate it." She gave me a small smile. We all stood up and grabbed our drinks. As we walked towards the door we called out our thanks and goodbyes. She gave us a small wave as the door closed behind us.
"So Woods."
"Yes Paul?"
"When are you going to get her number?" I jumped and nearly yelled. "What do you mean?!" "Oh come on dude! We saw the way you looked at her! And you were pretty quiet the whole time." Pat said taking sides with Paul. "Seriously guys! I just thought she looked nice! Besides, she could be in a relationship!" I could tell that they weren't easily convinced with my denial. I do think she's cute but I'm not one to jump right into a relationship or ask a random person out. And I'm pretty sure, I won't hear the end of this anytime soon. This is going to be a long day.
