Steven stood in front of the screen looking away from it. Once he knew he was on air he turned around and spoke "How's it going, everybody?" A logo of his name appears in front of him on the screen, along with the words 'Age 16' he smiled and continued "I know you all might be thinking of me as the new Pink Diamond, but you don't have to put me on a throne. I already have a rightful place, and it's on Earth"
The Diamonds leaned forward in their thrones in surprise, having not expected Steven to want to leave homeworld. Blue Diamond spoke first "Huh?" Then White Diamond "What?" Yellow Pearl is seen adjusting the settings on a diamond-shaped projection screen, broadcasting Steven's message along across the universe. Steven didn't acknowledge the diamonds "It's a beach house, where I live with my friends, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. As much as I've loved dismantling the empire and saving all your planets, I can't wait to get home and spend some quality time with my friends. As Steven finishes his message, White Diamond is seen to be visibly annoyed. White Diamond demanded that the feed be cut.
"Your time is up anyway" said yellow pearl as she cut the feed. Blue Pearl snickers and runs off to pull away the camera, as Yellow Pearl shuts down the broadcast. Steven turns to the Diamonds "I think that went well." He said confidently. "Steven, please" White began. Yellow followed "You can't go" and finally Blue "You must stay"
White Diamond came a bit closer to steven "You're all we have left of Pink" she then keeled down "Steven, you belong here, with us" Steven felt awkward, he didn't want to stay there knowing he had a life on earth "Uh... Thanks. But... no thanks" Steven said, slowly backing away as the Diamonds begin to sing
"Let Us Adore You"
Come live with us in the palace,
There's a room waiting for you
Yellow Diamond: Come on...
Blue Diamond: Come on...
White Diamond: Come on...
Just let us adore you
The Diamonds all kneeled down before Steven, as he continues to back to the Warp Pad. Steven spoke nervously "You guys have really gotten better at showing affection, but I've got my own life to get back to. Don't forget, I'm not Pink Diamond"
Yes, we know that you're not her,
but you were hers
The Diamonds inch closely towards Steven as they continue singing, and Steven chuckles nervously.
You know what it meant to love her,
and you remind us so much of her
"Thanks, but I really gotta go." "But Steven!"
"I've disbanded my armies! I've liberated my colonies!" Said Yellow "I never shatter. I never make anyone cry." Blue spoke "I've been saying "please" and "thank you", even to lower life forms" White spoke. Steven looked up at her "What did we talk about?" White rolled her eyes "Ugh, equal life forms. Steven, we've done everything you've asked!" Steven spoke quickly "That's great! Good job! Keep it up! Bye!" He ran up to the warp pad and promptly activates it, thwn begins beaming through space
Steven eventually arrive back on Earth, warping into a glass dome at the back of the beach house. Connie is seen sitting on the floor reading a magazine, as Steven arrives on the warp pad inside.Connie sees him and yelles "Steven! What took so long?" Steven leaps over to Connie and the two share a hug. Steven sighs and explains "The Diamonds. They really want me to move in." "Why?" She asks him. "Because they want to smother me with attention 24/7." Connie giggles and says "Sounds fun." "No, it doesn't."
"Well, I'm glad I got to see you before heading out." Steven looks at her "You're really going through with it?" The pair exits the conservatory and begin descending the stairs to the balcony outside Steven's Room. "Of course. I've always wanted to go to space camp." She tells him. "But you've literally been to space multiple times. And you've done way cooler stuff than just camp there." He tells her "My parents are doing what they can to support my interests. It's sweet." They enter the room and she picks up her duffel bag continuing "Plus, I get all the freeze-dried ice cream I can eat." "But Sadie Killer and the Suspects are playing tonight. Isn't a rock show a little better than space camp?" Steven asks her. Connie then smiled at steven "It's maybe equal to space camp." Steven chuckled as Connie pulled out her vibrating phone from her pocket. She looked at it then back at Steven "That's my mom. I should get going." Connie and Steven hug each other again. She briefly turns away, blushing with her arms crossed, before giving Steven a quick peck on the cheek, causing him to blush as well. "Mwah! Okay! Bye!"Connie then proceeded to run down the stairs and out of the house. Steven put his hand to his cheek and looked down "i don't like her like that anymore..." he walks out of the house and tp the balcony. As Connie leaves, Steven sighs contently and begins singing
"Here we are in the future,
Here we are in the future and it's bright!
Nothing to fear
No one to fight
I can't believe we've come so far
Happily ever after, here we are!"
Steven gazed up at the bright sky happily and ran into his room. He looked at a photo frame of the Crystal Gems and floated onto his bed, lying in it. He then sat up and samg down his hardship.
"Once upon a time, I thought I'd always be in my mother's shadow
Answering for her crimes, I thought I'd always be in an endless battle
Till I began to hone
A power all my own"
As Steven sang, memories of the past events of him facing off various former foes ran through his thoughts.
"That I could feel growing stronger every day!
And now I saved the world,
Not just that- the whole galaxy's saved,
We did it!
Here we are in the future!"
Steven rolled down the stairs in his bubble shield before exiting the house. He petted Cat Steven on the porch and ran out onto the beach, where Pearl, his dad, Greg and Lion are seen by Greg's Van.
