The House
The night was dark and foggy when my friend James looked at me and said, “Hey Danny, lets go mess with some houses tonight.” I looked at him blankly for a moment and then responded, “okay, lets do it.” We got on our jackets and shoes and slowly crept down the stairs making sure not to wake my mom and dad. We tiptoed toward the door and gently pulled it open, went outside, locked the door, and hurried off.
We approached the first house, i could almost hear my heart pounding from the adrenaline, James was waiting right behind me as i rang the doorbell a few times and bolted off to a few bushes where we could sit and wait for the people to come out looking for us. I hear James say “shh!” I then quickly turn my head to the house and the porch light comes on and we see the door slowly squeak open and we put our heads down, trying not to be seen and have a chance of getting caught. Suddenly the door slammed shut, it almost sounded like a gunshot in the mere quietness of the night.
James and I slowly got up and went to the next house. “this time were not just ringing the doorbell and running.” James said as he looked down the street towards Mr.Daniels house with a truly impish look on his face. “Then what are we doing?” i responded.”were going to egg Mr. Daniel’s house at the end of the street.” “No James, the last kids that messed with his house almost got caught, I have a bad feeling we won't be able to get away so easily.” “Oh come on Danny, you’re fast enough to get away and hide.” “Alright, lets go.” I say in a hesitant tone.
We walked slowly up to his house and James started pelting his door and windows every time almost sounding louder than the last. Then there was a long silence. I stood in stiff silence as i saw the door burst open and see Mr. Daniels standing there with his dog right next to him as he muttered, “Sic em’ boy” The very sentence sent chills down my spine as i scream, “Run James!” We sprint as fast as we possibly can as we can hear Mr. Daniel’s dog catching up to us. We run up my steps onto my porch, and the dog jumps and sinks his teeth into the back of my neck, i can feel his jaws closing harder on my neck as i jolt awake in a state of panic. “Oh, it was only a dream.” i say as i rub the back of my head and feel something wrong with the back of my neck. I run to my bathroom as i look in the mirror i see a truly terrifying sight. A scar in the shape of teeth on the back of my neck. “Was it a dream?” i mumble to myself as i walk back to my bed.
