Friday the 13th

The sun had just peaked over the horizon. Morning always left Emily in awe, as she watched the dark blue sky explode into several beautiful colors. She watched calmly as the wind gently blew through her light brown hair. Emily closed her dark eyes and took in a deep breath of the cool, spring air. One by one, the birds started to sing. Emily opened her eyes after she heard rustling of sticks on the ground. To her right, stood Tom. Tom quietly stood next to her, and he too watched the sun slowly rise from the blooming trees.

“This morning is very beautiful.”

Tom said. Tom’s eyes were bright blue and his hair was darker than Emily’s, almost black. He turned to look at the morning sun rise after she lifted a finger to her soft, pink lips. he knew she wanted him to take it all in just as much as her.

after a moment of silence, he turns back to ask,

“Are you going to get ready?”

Emily quickly looked at Tom, into his amazing blue eyes. Emily finally spoke.

“ yes, in a minute.”

They had been waiting for weeks, but to Emily it felt like months. She picked up her cup of coffee and stood. For as tall as she was for her age and gender, Tom still stood taller.

Leaving the sound of the chirping birds outside, Emily walked into the kitchen from the back door. The rich smell of fresh coffee filled the house wonderfully. She walks through the kitchen, through the living room, and into the bathroom. Emily took a shower, dressed herself, and off they went.

By 9:30 AM they’re out for breakfast. Tom looks at Emily inside the Denny’s they had chosen last minute. After a moment he speaks.

“Are you sure we should be going out today?”

Tom is a huge skeptic, so today being Friday the 13th, he was practically begging her to stay home. Emily answers,

“Tom, I promise things will be fine. Everything will be okay.”

Tom looks around the room nervously, then asks,

“Are you sure? I’m sorry. I understand you wanted to go alone, maybe meet up with some friends, but I just wanted to be sure you are safe.”

By 1:45 PM they’ve gone out to the movies, then to lunch.

“Finally,” Emily says.

They had gotten to the fair. The is warm with a mix of different foods being made at the stands. Buttery popcorn, the sweet smell of fried ice cream, and the different pizza’s as well.

As night was approaching and the sky got darker, Tom held tighter onto Emily’s hand. Tom was looking anxious again. He turns to Emily and says,

“Maybe it’s about time we get out of here.”

“But I’m having fun.” Emily says.

Tom can hear the slight disappointment in her voice.

Suddenly, the look of intense pain struck her face. They both looked down to find a knife sticking out of her. The dark red spreading slowly around the wound and into the bleach white of her shirt.

“why?!” He said in a low whisper.

“Why her? What did she do to deserve this?!”

Tear after tear dropped from his eyes and onto her bleeding body.

Later she had died from loss of too much blood and a heart attack.

Tom was sitting in her car and hears a whisper from behind him.

“Bad things happen on Friday the 13th.”
