Let me start off by stating the following: I have a friend that worries more than a donkey on election day.
I know that I now reside where I was when this tale began. The safest place I know (or at least I thought) was my house. That room is so peaceful. Decorated with ¨John’s Room¨ on the front door, as well as memorabilia of of my family, the Smith’s.I was laying in my bed when I heard a loud crash. The instant terror flowed through my veins. In the small neighborhood of Springdale, Wyoming, it’s very uncommon to hear such a menacing sound. But being 16, I realized that I’m being a buffoon. I thought to myself, ”I must investigate to see what or who made that sou-” This thought hit a brick wall when my iPhone buzzed and beeped. It was Mike. Mike was a “worry wart” to put it lightly. Mike called in a wheeze,”Johnny did you hear that?!” he exclaimed in a puzzled manner. I didn't believe that the little bang could be heard from my house to Mike’s. I replied, “Yes I did”. ”What do you think it was? Will we be okay? What if it’s aliens?” Mike was doing the usual bombardment of questions, like he always does. ¨It was probably some thunder. ¨ The most reasonable explanation. “BOOM!” As the thunder cracked once more. “Our grogginess overlooked that simple theory, now go to sleep.”Mike hung up the phone almost instantly.
I woke up again. Not by the storm, but by my side door opening! My digital clock read 3:05 AM as I heard footsteps around my house.”It’s probably Bryan” I told myself, since Bryan works late shifts, possibly just getting off. Then I realized that Bryan has an apartment. I shaked and shivered as the footsteps grew louder and louder, as if it was approaching my room. “What could this be? a criminal, Mike, a demon, a ghost, my mom?¨ The possibilities are endless.
CREEK! CREEK! the noise was in the hallway. Approaching my room. I was, for lack of better term, terrified. Getting out of bed quickly I rushed to my knob to lock it. I was about to grace the bronze handle when the door flew open, the dark silhouette crept from the shadows, it was Mike. “Can I spend the night?” I agreed. Just as I was about to fall asleep, I heard footsteps again….
the end?.....
