Surprise In The School
The day started out as normal as any other, Chris woke up late with the bus driving past his house. he quickly got dressed, and rushed into the bathroom to brush his teeth, he ran his fingers through his blonde, curly hair and rushed out the door, grabbing his bag on the way. as Chris ran to the next bus stop his friend Dylan ran up from behind him. “Wake up late again Chris?” Said Dylan. “Don’t I always?” Said Chris. the two boys made it to the next bus stop just in time to get on the bus. As they went to their seat, a girl that sat across from them asked. “Did you wake up late again Chris?” “How’d you know Ashley?” Said Chris, breathing heavily. “You look like you just ran five miles.” She said.”Thats easy for you to say, you have the fastest track record out of everybody in the school.” Said Dylan.”Thats True.” Said Ashley smugly, as she flips her jet black hair behind her. Next to her a girl said. “Hey are you guys going to the old, abandoned school building with us tonight?” “Probably , will have to ask my parents Sasha.” Chris said. “Tell them you are spending the night a t my house or they will never let you go.” Dylan said. “Then we can sneak out, my parents are oblivious to everything.”
Later that night, four children, Dylan, Chris, Ashley, and Sasha stood outside the old school building. It’s shadow looming over the group. Fog creeping around the sides of the school, moss and weeds climbing up the sides of the school, trying to reclaim it to the earth. “Well, who wants to go first?” Dylan said, breaking the silence that hung over them like a blanket. They walked up the path to the school, the fog seaming to part before the kids. As the group entered the building they could hear the scuttling of rats. Broken windows had let the fog into the school, obscuring the groups vision. Then, suddenly they heard it. A growing laugh, full of insanity.
The children looked around, horrified. Through the fog emerged a masked man holding a knife. The kids ran as fast as they could. the group could hear the pounding of the man’s steps echoing throughout the hallway. Finally, they thought they might have gotten away but they kept on running. They slowed down and caught their breath they thought they lost him but from the hall in front of them came the man with the knife. Once they were out of sight from the masked man they hid in a classroom. The kids heard the sound of footsteps approaching, they saw a shadow pass over the door’s blurred window. Suddenly Ashley screamed, a rat had crawled onto her. The door to the classroom flew open and in the doorway stood the masked man with a knife he ran at the group, the group scattered around him and split up, going different directions down the hall. Chris and Sasha went one way, Dylan and Ashley down the other. The man with a knife ran after Ashley and Dylan, but Sasha and Chris did not stop. They wanted to get as much distance from the man as possible.
Finally Chris and Sasha made it out of the school, but Ashley and Dylan were nowhere to be seen. Then Chris saw his and Dylan’s parents outside, laughing. “What are you guys doing here and why are you laughing?” Asked Chris. “We were nearly killed in there, a guy with a knife was chasing us around, we still don’t know where Dylan and Ashley are!” Sasha said. “I was the guy with the knife, I was chasing you guys around to scare you and teach you a lesson. As for where Ashley and Dylan are, I don’t know. The last time I saw you kids you were all together, then I lost you and I came back out here.” Said Chris’s dad. “Then who was that chasing Dylan and Ashley down the hallway when we split up?” Chris said horrified. Then, something Chris would remember for the rest of his life, a blood-curdling scream came from the school.
