I really hate the feeling
Blooming in my chest
But that simple feeling
Puts my heart to restIt silences my qualms
And blinds my fears
And allows honor to triumph
Even through all these yearsIt is a state
That we all have been in
The one where we stop caring
Exactly who did what whenThe feeling of indifference
Doesn't make us feel whole
But sometimes
It stops it all
It brings the whole world to a halt
It lets us slow down and think
About better things,
Other things,
More important things
By abandoning the "here" and "now"
And by emptying us of ourselvesIt opens the mind to rationality
But also makes us cold
We blow off all the people
That we've ever knownBut sometimes, a very few times,
A couple events in your life
Can be distanced from
And the feeling of indifference
Can then be carefully used.
