No Vertigo

You spend your time
Peering at the sun

You love the daylight
You love the rain
The colors of the sky
How it all changes

It is the only thing that you know
That spins, yet causes
No vertigo

A woman opens her window
To the summer wind
And looks out to the clouds

She's tucked in an office
Not far from here
Where not a blade of grass grows

This inhabitant
Of a concrete city
Stares at the blue sky

It seems to glance back
And wink
Out of the corner of its eye

It is the only thing that she knows
That spins, yet causes
No vertigo

Faster and faster
Than the earth
And by it goes

A spinning circle
Of atmosphere
That I know

It churns tomorrow
And tonight with
No vertigo

It spins and spins
'Till morning light, but still
No vertigo
