A/N: Canonically, Kyd Wykkyd was created for the Teen Titans (2003-2006) cartoon series because the producers thought the Hive needed a 'cool character'. It is shown that he has psychic abilities so I'm going to build on that knowledge. He doesn't speak in the series but in this fic, he'll be able to speak via telepathy.

It wasn't often the Hive needed to scope a place out before robbing it.

Normally, they'd just walk in, loot the place, and leave the cops looking like idiots. Of course, that is if the Teen Titans didn't catch the Hive either.

Unfortunately, with Bandit out and about, the Hive was forced to have lookout to make sure they wouldn't be caught with their pants down like the last time. This time, the Hive intended to rob a mall.

After several rousing rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors, it was decided that Kyd Wykkyd would be the lookout. Billy had said something about 'Bandit being too darn annoying to deal with' and 'Wykkyd was the only one with enough patience to actually go through with the plan'.

Not being the type to argue, Kyd went along with the plan. The plan started off with Kyd sneaking into the mall, disguised as to not bring too much attention to himself. From then on, he'd lurk until closing time. He'd once again telekinetically fry the security system after making sure Bandit wasn't already messing with their gig.

Kyd got ready. Disguised like any regular gothy teenager, Kyd teleported himself to the mall. As soon as he stepped foot into the mall, Kyd began searching for good 'hunting' grounds. After purchasing a soda and a hot dog, Kyd began trekking though kiosks and crowds.

It would be a while till the mall closed, and Kyd knew he'd have time to kill till closing time so he decided to just chill. It had been a while since the Hive had a day where they could act like normal teenager, and while he loved crime, Kyd also liked the normalcy.

The gothy teen perused several 'alternative' clothing stores and electronics stores, keeping them in mind for their nightly heist. It wasn't until he went inside Cold Conversation, an edgy clothing store, and saw Y/N.

Just like the night at the museum, Y/N examined and looked over the different merchandise that the store offered. She wouldn't have noticed Kyd's presence had she ignored the feeling of being watched. Y/N looked up and her eyes lit up like Christmas lights when she saw him. She waved at him excitedly, as if he were an old friend or something.

Kyd was visibly irritated. The Hive had a plan in case Bandit showed up after closing time, but the plan was officially out of the question since it was nowhere near closing time. Kyd would just have to deal with her or ignore her. He walked over to a display with neatly folded band shirts and looked them over. He hoped and prayed Y/N would get the hint and leave him alone.

He was dead wrong.

"You know, we really have to stop bumping into each other like this", Y/N said as she stood across from him, looking at the accessory rack. "Wykkyd, right? Surely you remember me, right?" She looked around briefly before smiling at him. "Where are your buddies? Or is it just you?"

Kyd sighed internally. He let go of the shirt and stared at her coldly, albeit annoyed. "Of course I remember you, Bandit." Wykkyd took a shirt and walked away from her, accepting the fact she'd just follow.

Kyd remembered what Billy said- the bit about him being the most patient one to deal with Bandit. He sighed and came up with a plan to try and get her to leave the Hive alone. Finally, he turned around and saw her- a childish grin plastered on her face.

The brooding teenager took her aside and stared her down. Her confident grin never wavered. "Okay, what do you want", asked Kyd. He hoped he could get her to at least, come to a compromise if her intentions were to rob the mall.

"First of all, the fact that you're telepathic? It's pretty cool, oh my goodness." Y/N laughed nervously, unsure of what was going on. She uncomfortably regained her composure after seeing the unamused look on his face. "Second, if you're worried about it being like the museum, don't worry. I already have a bunch of stuff. I'm just here hanging out with some friends, but I think they bailed." Y/N shrugged before an idea popped in her head.

"Oh, I know!" Y/N grinned excitedly. "How about we hang out? Like, you and I hang out for a while. We could go to the movies or some other stores and I could show you all the best places for your plans later tonight. How does that sound?"

Kyd was a little bit caught off guard. His first thought was if her head was screwed on right or if she was some weirdo, but he waved those thoughts out of his mind. His priority was the mission and if she promised to stay away from them, then hanging out with her was the least Kyd could do. He shrugged before giving her an uninterested nod. "Only if you don't get in the way of our plans", he mused before going back to look at some jackets.

Y/N scoffed. "Don't worry. I won't bother you guys. Matter of fact, I won't even be here, so yeah." She checked her watch. "Anyway, the movie's gonna start soon and I already have my tickets. We should go." With that said, the young thief moseyed on over to the mall's movie theatre.

After making sure Kyd actually stayed, Y/N made a beeline to the usher and then, their theatre. Once they made it to their seats, Y/N took out an assortment of shrunken treats and drinks from her pockets before finally morphing them to their original size. "Would you like some?"

Kyd silently accepted, nodding in stoic appreciation. He sat back in his seat and relaxed once the movie started. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Of course, he would be sure to never let his guard down.

Flash Forward

The movie? The best one Y/N's seen so far. Kyd thought it was pretty funny, and it didn't help that Y/N would occasionally drop in with some funny commentary that he rewarded with the smallest smile. Not that he'd let anyone know, but Y/N wasn't that bad and if the Hive didn't insist she was an enemy, he'd hang out with her again.

Y/N had planned on inviting Kyd for an after movie snack but she got a call. Her cheerful smile diminished slightly after she finished the call. "Well, my ride is outside. They're earlier than expected which sucks cause I thought we'd have more time and I...". She chuckled and shook her head. "Never mind, I'm rambling. It was nice hanging out with you, Kyd." She hesitated but hugged him quickly, swiftly sneaking something in his hand. "Don't open it yet", she whispered before letting go and waving goodbye. "Bye", Kyd mumbled.

After she left, Kyd went into a bathroom and teleported back to his room in the Hive's lair. He took out the folded up piece of paper Y/N placed in his hand and opened it up. It was labeled 'Y/N's Map to Mall Larceny'. It had all the hiding spots and security cameras that Y/N mentioned, along with all the best places to rob. The psychic thief grinned proudly, mentally thanking Y/N before going to the rest of the Hive.

Maybe Y/N wasn't that bad after all.
