Neil Richards was a man of his word.
He wandered around the mostly empty department store in hopes of finding Y/N. He wondered what she did exactly in Dip!. Plus, he had a day to kill and assuming nobody recognized him, he'd be as free as a bird.
As he perused the men's suit section, Neil heard a tidbit of a familiar voice. It was Y/N's. He looked around for the H/C haired girl and found her directing other girls where to put some the new season's clothes. Looks like she had some clout in Dip!
Neil looked around for a way to approach her without making it look like he was stalking her- even though he was. He looked around some more out-of-fashion suits, pretending to peruse their options. When he saw that Y/N was without her small congregation of store assistants, Neil approached her.
Y/N had been keeping to herself in the office until one of the girls had mentioned it was time to relocate the out-of-season clothing. She left the office and instructed the girls to move the clearance section to the front of the store. Y/N watched as her girls swiftly carried the antiquated clothing pieces to the clearance section, happy with the changes.
As she left her employees to do their thing, Y/N caught a glimpse of bright red hair. She stopped dead in her tracks and saw Neil walking past and in between men's' mannequins. "Look what the cat dragged in. How are you, Mr. Richards?" The edge of her lips curled into a cocky half smile.
Neil looked up from the neat display of old clothing to see Y/N, smiling that stupid little smile of hers. "Oh hello, love." He fixed his shades before turning away from her. "I'm just looking around. I almost walked past this little hole-in-the-wall boutique." He looked back at her with an equally teasing grin.
"Well, Carnaby Street is plenty busy. Anything I can help you find? You look lost. Snooping around our out-of-season items isn't very becoming of you, I must say." Y/N picked some of the men's blazers off of the rack and promptly handed them over to another store associate who walked past.
"What do you do here, Y/N?" Neil then decided to take an actual look around the men's' clothing. Even if it was out-of-season, he had time to kill and he wasn't popular enough to be be embarrassed for even looking at such tacky clothing. "You seem to have a knack for bossing others around."
Y/N scoffed. "For your information, Neil, I'm the manager. It's part of the job. Anyway, you didn't answer my question- what are you doing here?" She glanced at her wristwatch and handed some more clothes to another girl afterwards. Thank goodness her shift was over. "Hang on- I'll be right back."
Neil watched as she walked away, confused as to why she just assumed he was there for any reason that involved her. Regardless, he stopped looking around and waited at the front of the store for her. He didn't feel like going back to his studio and who knows, maybe she'd be a good person to talk to- despite her personality.
Once she came back out, Y/N grinned at the sight of Neil. "You waited."
Neil rolled his eyes. "Don't flatter yourself. My mother just raised me with manners."
Y/N scoffed playfully. "Right. Anyway, answer the question: why were you at Dip!, Neil? She adjusted her hat before walking out of the sunny alley. Her eyes wandered around the street as she tried to spot anything new from her usual commute back home. The only difference was that Neil Richards was walking besides her.
"I had some time to kill. I supposed I could take a trip down Carnaby Street." Neil shrugged as he glanced at her. Why was she looking around like that? "What are you doing? You lost something?"
Y/N redirected her attention to him. "Nah, I always like to look around since I always walk this road after work, but I always try to find something new. Anyway, where's your entourage, Neil?"
"My models are off working- photo shoots and such. I don't deal with such trivial matters. I'm a busy man. I mean- obviously, I have free time. If I didn't, I wouldn't be walking around with you." Neil fixed his glasses before looking back to Y/N. "Don't let this go to your head, love, but you're a very pretty girl. Have you ever thought of modeling?"
Y/N snickered. "Very funny, Red. By the way, I hope you don't me calling you that." She glanced at him with a very you're-quite-the-comedian face. "I'm happy doing what I'm doing. I don't think I'd be the modeling type anyway."
Neil shrugged. He could care less about his new silly nickname but he found it odd she didn't jump at the chance of becoming a model. It definitely beat being a manager at some obscure boutique but hey, it's her life. "Alright, love."
After walking in silence for a while, the two reached an apartment building. "So...this is home. I don't suppose you'd fancy coming up for tea- or a pint, would you?" Y/N chuckled sheepishly, lightly kicking pebbles near her feet. She didn't really know what to do.
Neil raised a brow and grinned, amused at her awkwardness. "Thanks, love, but I've got to get going. Designing and meetings, you know how that goes. I'll be happy to take you up on that offer some other day though." All while he was mumbling his excuses, he seemed to be writing something down on a small notepad. He ripped out the sheet and handed it to her. "Well, that's my number if you decide to ring me up, ducky. I'll see you later." With that, he waved her goodbye and watched her go inside.
