I stared with curiosity and amazement as Stacy was thanked over and over. She kneeled to the little girl she had just returned to her mother.

"Next time don't run away from your mother, OK? You'll be safer that way. Promise me and your mother you won't." She told the kid.

"I won't!" She promised then hugged my sister, she of course hugged her back.

"Good, it's safer for you that way." Stacy said with a big, soft smile and patting the girl's head. She stood up and walked away waving good-bye.

"I didn't know you were good with kids." I said with uncovered surprise.

"You never know how much a person can change in a year, even if they aren't awake. They still have dreams." She replied.

"You had dreams?" I asked. She paused her walk and looked away with a sad, faraway gaze. It seemed as if what she and I had spoken reminded her of forgotten memories.

"Yes..." She finally replied.

"What were they about?"
I didn't expect her to stiffen up at my question. I had hoped to hear something not that important. But her reaction just fueled my curiosity.

"Are you okay? I asked with wonderance and worry.

"Y-Yeah.." She replied still with her faraway gaze but looked at me. "I just need some rest."

"Well the doctors came and said we could take you home now since they've already finished their tests but we have to sign you out. They said everything seems normal other than you having a completely different set of DNA than before. That and you literally standing without any physical therapy."

"Wait, what? A different DNA than mine? But that's.. What if..." Then she trailed off in her thoughts without saying a word to me about them. "Could it have..?" She mumbled to herself. Did she just shrug off standing without physical therapy?

What's going on in her head? She's been distant since she woke up, she didn't tell us that she had dreams until now but she hasn't talked about them either. What did she dream of and what did she see? I thought.

"Um...Stacy?" I heard our dad say. She jumped back into reality at his voice.

"What?" She replied with a quick hostile look at him.

"I know you know, just please don't say it, only you can see it. So, please."

There was a long pause as Stacy glared into dad's eyes and he stared back at hers. Then she sighed, closing her eyes for a moment or two before opening them again.

"Fine. As long as there aren't any consequences and if there are, you will have three options. Number one is to deal with what happens on the other side without them knowing. Number two is to deal with what happens and tell them. And lastly, number three is wait for them to find out and deal with what happens on both sides."

"I choose number three." He answered. Stacy's eyes glowed red with anger and hostility as she glared into dad's eyes after hearing his response. After a while she looked away.

"Fine." She sighed.

"Thank you!" He exclaimed, stepping in to hug her but was stopped by her angry glare that burned into his eyes.

"Don't. Hug. Me." She made them sound terrifying and very hostile. He stepped back in surprise and fright. Her eyes showed a confidence never seen by us before, a warrior's pride and experience.
"Stacy...Your eyes..." I questioned, trying to change the hostile atmosphere. Stacy quickly looked away as I finished my last sentence.

"Um...Stacy?"

She looked back at me.

"Yes?" She answered, with her eyes back to the usual colour but I noticed they were slightly different. Trick of the light?

I must be going crazy! Her eyes were just red! My imagination is getting the better of me...I thought while sighing. Maybe I'm just tired...

"Nevermind..." I said while looking away. Then our mom walked out of the hospital doors.

"I signed the papers and they said we can take you home now, Stacy!" She yelled excitedly.

"Great!" Responded Stacy, as if what just happened never occurred.

Mom then hugged Stacy which surprised her like she wasn't expecting the hug. She looked at her with a softness that can't be put into words.

"You look just like your father." She smiled, Stacy made a face with disgust. Her eyes saddened for a moment before returning."I'm so glad you finally awoke!"

"Yeah...Glad I'm awake too, mom. Also, I have a question."

"Yes?"

"Am I still in scho-" She was about to ask something but was cut short by someone yelling her name.

"Stacy! Stacy! You're awake!" A man with black hair and blue eyes called. Stacy looked over in surprise.

"Jason!" Stacy exclaimed, breaking free of our mom's hug and running towards him.

The two hugged in the pale moonlight, their silhouettes barely visible.

"I missed you..." Jason murmured just loud enough for her to hear.

"I missed you too, Jason..." Stacy whispered as she dug her face into the warmth of his chest that was covered in a hoodie.

"Don't leave me like that again. You know you're the only one I can depend on right now..."

"I know...And I won't." She looked up at him and smiled. Even though I could barely see, I'm sure I saw two fangs that looked too long to be normal. This 'Jason' smiled back and hugged her even closer to him. Her face snuggled even deeper into his chest.

I was confused and curious. I've never seen him so I was wondering how she knew him.

"Come on, let's go get some food or something, my treat." He mumbled looking down at her.

"Sounds good to me!" She looked over at us. "We're going out somewhere alright?"

"But you just woke up! I think you should rest a little more!" Mom called after her.

"I've rested for an entire year, remember?" Stacy yelled back. "I'll be fine! Besides, I have Jason with me!"

And with that, she walked off with this 'Jason' by her side, clinging onto his arm while leaning her head on his shoulder.
