A memory which I hoped I never relived again was remembered.

The sounds of blood being splattered, swords clanging and the screams of dying soldiers all around. Blood was splattered all over my face as was every other soldier. This war had been going on for months, I was exhausted. The smell of blood was overwhelming and my thirst for blood awakened. My sight turned red.

"Die you vampire!" A hunter, no more than twenty-three, yelled as he charged me. He swung his sword at me. I moved to the side, avoiding his blade and moved behind him. I put my arms under his and pushed upwards. He couldn't attack anymore. The dryness in my throat stinging and begging for blood.

"I'm thirsty.." I mumbled as I breathed on his neck. I sniffed it and licked a bit of it before resting my fangs on his neck.

"Don't you dare..!" He struggled. I bit down and tasted blood. I loved the taste, it was so metallic and sweet. I closed my eyes as the parched and painful feeling eased in my throat. The hunter kept trying to struggle but soon gave up as I kept going. He dropped his sword in defeat. The feeling stopped and I opened my eyes, the hunter's skin tone had become a bit lighter. I pulled out my fangs and let go of him. He fell to his knees and clutched his neck as blood oozed out from his fingers. I licked the blood off of my fangs and the little that dripped out of my mouth. I glanced at the people around me who were fighting. I spotted my best friend who was fighting a vampire who had been forced to join the hunter's side. They both hesitated as they stared into each other's eyes. A dark shadow spread across both of their faces.

"Reina.. Please.. Just kill me.." The other vampire mumbled as tears started to form in his eyes. He lowered his sword, allowing her to kill him.

"No! I'm not going to kill you Xenon." She replied. "You know I can't do that!"

"You and I weren't meant to be.. We wouldn't have been able to anyway!" A tear dropped from Rei's eye.

"I don't care, I still love you..!" Xenon jumped a little bit, surprised at her confession. I was shocked, I had no idea this was happening between them. My best friend, a noble vampire born to a noble family, who was supposed to marry the prince as soon as she turned eighteen, was having an affair with a soldier?

"I love you too.." Xenon allowed one of many tears to slip through. "But you have to marry Prince Noel.."

"I won't marry him and I won't kill you." Rei threw aside her sword as more tears fell and held her arms out to her sides. "So either you kill me and tell me our love was a lie, or you accept the fact that I'll love you no matter what and rejoin our side, escaping your captors. I am not going to kill you, I love you too much to lose you."

"I.." Xenon started. "I love you.." He walked to her and hugged her, throwing his sword away too.

"I love you too.." Rei hugged back. My heart shattered at the situation.

"If you won't kill her.. Then I will!" The hunter I had bitten before yelled out and ran to them. He impaled them and then collapsed as he started going through the stages of becoming a vampire. Rei and Xenon spit out blood and fell forwards, Xenon falling a little to the right of Rei.

"Rei!" I screamed and ran to her. Tears were streaming out of my eyes. "Rei no!"

"S-Stacy.." She whispered, looking up at me as tears rolled out of her eyes.

"Rei! Don't leave me! Please.." I hugged her close to me.

"Stacy.. T-Take Xenon and run.." She paused to spit out more blood. "Go to camp."
