My eyes flickered open to the blinding sun shining in through the window. I looked at Rei who was sleeping beside me, the sun complimented her. Her red hair turned into a beautiful fiery orange and her cheekbones were accentuated. She seemed bothered as she slept, clenching her fist. I rested my hand on it and watched as tension released. I turned away from the morning sun goddess after a few moments and got ready for the day. I then sat down in Rei's desk chair and worked on the math translation I needed for the device. After about ten minutes I was finally able to get one part of the translation finished when I heard the bed stir.

"Good morning, princess." I said as I wrote down the last part of the first translation and glanced at her.

"Not yet and morning." She replied as she yawned. She turned toward the window and winced at the bright light before turning away. "Fuck that's bright, feels like I had a hangover from last night."

She rubbed her eyes and temples before focusing her attention on the day. She got up and started getting dressed. I started on the second part of the translation. The hell is that number?

"What are you doing?" She walked over to me and laid her chin on my head, peering at my work. "You nerd, it's too early for math."

"Whatever. The sooner I get this done, the easier life gets." She hummed in agreement but continued peering at my work. White sleeved arms rested on my shoulders. The faint smell of coconut wafted through the air, the smell of her shampoo.

"You actually get this? I didn't even know a brain could do this."

"You'd be amazed what your brain could do if you studied ahead."

"Studied ahead? Stacy this isn't even college math, this is past that."

"Maybe, just a bit." I felt a pang in my throat, it was dry. "Shit."

"What?"

"I need blood soon." Everything slowly started to become more noticeable, luckily coconut was the most pungent.

"How bad is it? Can you wait until it's darker out?"

"Like ten hours? No. My throat is getting dry and stuff is getting more sensitive." I sighed and laid back in my chair, Rei moved with me.

"Think we can go on a hunt real quick?"

"Please. God help me, I will drink the neighbours." She chuckled and moved off of me.

"Let me finish dressing and then we can sneak out for a bit, it's not too late in the morning that everyone should be awake."

"Ok, but hurry."

"Yeah, yeah."

She finished getting dressed and then cranked open the window, letting me out before she.

"Let's look out in the forest areas for any campers, make it look like it was bears or whatever."

And we did just that. We leapt towards the forest areas and spotted a camper getting out of their tent, getting his day started. We landed quietly behind a large oak tree and waited for him to come near then I jumped on him. I bit into his neck while covering his mouth to prevent noises. I felt relief as my fangs sunk into his neck and blood starting to ooze into my mouth and trickle down my throat. I gulped each mouthful in gratitude. Rei neared the tent to check for another camper. It's better we don't both feed on the same person. I watched as she opened the tent screen and crawled in. My feed was nearing its end as my senses calmed and returned to normal. I let my camper go and he sank. He was slightly paler, not too noticeable though. I wiped off the blood that escaped my mouth and dragged him back to the site, laying him next to the firepit before peeking inside the tent. As soon as I looked inside, I saw a fist heading towards Rei. I grabbed it and sat on the legs threatening to start flailing. After a while, the camper started to become weaker in her attempts before stopping all together. Rei soon stopped and turned to me, her ocean coloured eyes slightly mixed with a shade of red and blood trickling down her chin. She moved off the camper and helped me drag them outside. Although she wiped the blood off of most of her face, she missed a spot. I wiped it off of her and locked eyes for a moment.
