Simmer Down...

I woke up to Chuck poking my shoulder. I forgot that I had only introduced myself just last night. For a moment, I forgot who he was... He probably realized that when I screamed...

"It okay! It's okay!... It's me, Chuck... remember?"

I panted from the almost heart attack, "Oh!.. Sorry! Just forgot..." I blushed when I saw in his crystal blue eyes that I didn't need to explain further...

"Want to head to breakfast, Mellie?"

"It's Ellie."

The little boy scratched his head, "hehe... Oops. Sorry. Let me redo that. Want to head to breakfast, Ellie?"

"Sure thing, little man." I winked.

As we were walking, I heard the sound I fainted at the first night I walked into the Glade:: Grievers.

But what's strange is that it was DAYTIME.

Chucks face turned as pale as a ghost. Then, he ran.

Then, I ran. I didn't know where I was going, but I was running.

When I was sprinting across the Glade and trying to make my way to the Homestead, I tripped over a root and face planted.

As I gasped in pain, tears ran down my burning face.

When I weakly looked up, I saw a tan hand extended in front of my face: Newt.

He helped me up and slung his arms to support me. I twisted my ankle. He practically carried me to the Homestead where many boys were packed in and asking each other what was going on.

Newt sat me down on a wooden bench. I looked out the small window to see boys packed outside and waiting to come into the Homestead.

Newt turned my head with his index finger and wiped away my tears with his warm hands. He leaned in close...

"We are all screaming around, and you guys want to get all lovey-dovey here?!"
Chuck shouted over the noise with his hands on his hips.

Newt chuckled slightly, low enough that only I could hear it. "Well, mate, what else is there to do?" He stood up from where we were sitting and messed up Chuck's hair.
Chuck pushed Newt off of him and patted on his poofy hair.

Alby and Minho stormed into the Homestead abruptly. Minho took a chair while Alby just stood there scowling.

"Simmer down, simmer down, you big shanks!..... And girl....." Minho said blushing when he saw me.

"Why are there Grievers here during the day?!" Someone shouted. It sounded like one of Gally's followers. Shouts similar to this arised and were thrown at Minho as he stood there with a blank face on the chair.

He waved his hands to motion the commotion to stop. "Grievers?..." Minho said. "They won't hurt us, for some reason the doors never opened up this morning. Notice how I'm still here and not out in the maze?! Forget about the Grievers... What about the greenie in the box?!"

"New greenie?" I whispered to Newt.

He nodded his head. "Mhm. I saw the box come up... And the greenie's a girl......."
