(Chapter 2) Its been awhile

•••Katniss pov•••

After dinner I decided I needed some fresh air. Peeta said he'd put the kids to bed so I could go for a walk and clear my mind.
I slid on my jacket, my brown boots and some gloves then quickly walked out the door not wanting to waste one minute.
As I walked past the bakery and into the woods, I ran into someone.
"Sorry." I said as I looked up to see who was standing before me.

"Gale?" I was shocked I hadn't seen him since he moved to district 2 and applied for a job.

"Hey, katnip." he replied with a grin on his face.

"What are you doing here?"
I questioned, confused at why he would be in district 12 at so late in the evening.

"Well, it was supposed to be a surprise, but I was coming for the weekend to visit You, Peeta and the kids."

"Oh well sorry for ruining the surprise." I said bak to him trying to hide the smile that was displayed across my face.
"Sooo, how are you?"

"Great!" I have an amazing job down in 2 and I found a lovely place to live.

"That's amazing, I'm so glad Your here. Where are you staying?"

"Umm, about 5 houses down from the bakery on the left side." He answered looking up and to the left where his house must be.
"Well, you should come over tomorrow night for dinner." I told him as I turned away.
As I walked down the sidewalk I heard the last word that came out of his mouth "Id love too."
"Great, see you tomorrow." I yelled back at him waving goodbye.

(Peeta pov) •••••

Katniss has been gone a while and I'm starting to get worried. After putting the kids to bed I came downstairs and sat on the couch. I laid there staring at the T.V that was sitting on the wall when all of the sudden katniss marched through the door.

"Hey Peeta." she said with that sweet voice of hers
"There you are, I was worried about you" I said

"Well don't worry, you know I'll never leave you. You are never gonna believe who I ran into?" She said with a huge smile on her face.

"Your right I'll never guess, who?" I said kind of giving up.

She walked over to me and said with a loud voice almost loud enough to wake the kids "Gale!"
"That's great. Hows he doing?"

"He's doing well, said he got a job down in 2 and is holding up pretty well. I invited him over for dinner tomorrow night, thought we could invite Annie, her son and Haymitch too."

"Sounds fun." I said

"Oh don't you worry, It will be." She said as she sat down next to me and planted a giant kiss on my right cheek.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too." she said as she laid her head on my shoulder.
"Goodnight my beautiful wife."

As she laid there I just admired her features and held her as she dozed off into a deep sleep.
