Rehearsal isn't as bad as I supposed. Being on crew is also not too bad, it's a lot less nerve racking thats for sure.
Theres at least 14 people for crew.
Today the cast is practising some of the opening scenes. The crew is talking about who is going to do what. We're all standing at the wing of the stage. I usually get lost in these tech conversations. I can understand some of it but usually I blank out.
"Tris what do you want to do?" Will, who is the head of crew (no surprise there) asks me.
"Umm, I'll do sound, I could also open and close the curtains."
"Perfect,"he says writing something down in his notepad. "I'll teach you how to do the sound and curtain is pretty self explanatory. Oh and could you also pitch in with props? We need some new ones. And could you also help with costumes, Tori needs some helpers. " he asks not looking up.
"For sure. I'm not good with clothes, more Christina's thing, but I'll help out." I smile
"Thanks Tris!" He says turning away to ask some other people what they're doing. "Once you've told me what you want to do, you can go help out with something."
I walk back to the props room which is located in front of the dressing rooms backstage.
"I guess we'll be working together a lot." Adam says as he walks up beside me.
"And what makes you say that?" I ask him.
"Well you just picked the exact same things for the crew jobs as I did."
"How do I know you didn't pick the same ones I did?" I ask with a smirk on my face.
"Because Will asked me before you. I was standing right next to you." He tells me as we walk into the props room. The props room is filled with props... obviously and people making and paint props.
It takes me a while to remember that he was standing next to me because I blanked out.
"Right. But I promise I didn't do it on purpose." I tell him.
"It's alright, I like spending time with you" He said smiling.
I was about to reply but my phone started to ring. "One second." I told Adam. It was my mom calling.
(tris, her mom)
Hello?
Hi sweetie, how are you?
I'm good.
That's good. Well I'm just calling to remind you about the annual carnival!
Oh right! Isn't that this weekend?
Yes it is. Saturday. 10 am - 12 am, but we have to be there at 8 to set up.
And I have to come to the carnival right?
Like every year, you and your brother are expected to come. And you'll meet the new family who just moved beside us, their mother works with me and we're already good friends.
All right. I'll see you this weekend.
Bye mom.
Bye Tris."Sorry that was just my mom." I turn back to Adam.
"No worries. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but were you talking about the carnival that the government has for fundraising?"
"Exactly. Are you going?"
"Yeah my mom started working at the government and she told me about it the Carnival yesterday." He tells me.
"Wait did you move in next to me?"
"Do you live on Pineway Place?"
"I do."
"Well, then I guess we're neighbors!" He says.
"Thats awesome! Our moms are already good friends. We're probably going to be seeing each other a lot. "
