𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 oliver is a fiery guy with a soft side. he's confident in himself and his abilities, and won't hesitate to let you know his opinion on a subject. he can be sarcastic and every now and again he has the perfect one-liners. he holds his head high and doesn't let others put him down, no matter the topic of disagreement (though he can admit when he's wrong — he once got into a small political debate but he later tracked down and apologized to the girl he argued with after reading up on the subject). oliver can also be quiet at times. he loves his alone time (a bit of an ambivert) where he can curl up with a book and relax. he's fiercely loyal to his friends and is always stepping up to help them out in times of need (one of his friends had gone through a bad breakup so oliver invited her over and watched shitty horror movies until his friend was laughing and forgetting about her ex). 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 oliver lives with both parents and his two older brothers (though both have moved out, they're still in the same general area). his oldest brother (august / "auggie") was drafted to fight in Vietnam after high-school (the late 60s) so he wasn't around for much of his childhood, and his other brother (james) went on to get a job teaching at the local middle school (he lives close to his childhood home and often babysat for their parents). his parents worked long hours and weren't home as often, but they were always kind and made up for their absence. oliver was often watched by james, but if he was busy he would spend time at his grandfather's house. he had an old piano that oliver would mess around with while his grandfather tried to teach him the notes. he played him his old records and taught him how to swing dance. he grew up loving music and enrolled in band when he entered middle school. he played trumpet (a prominent instrument in many of the jazz songs his grandfather introduced him too). in high school, he signed up for jazz where she also doubled on piano. high school also introduced him to sony's walkman and custom mixtapes, and so he spent many nights in his grandfather's basement making his own mixes. 𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐒 ‣ he zones out quite often (whether he's just distracted or off in his own world) ‣ he hums all the time (doing his homework, walking around town, etc) ‣ he chews on the ends of his pencils/pens when he's deep in thought or nervous ‣ he's a talented singer, but his nerves get in the way and his confidence lies in his instruments ‣ he wears glasses when he reads ‣ he works at the local diner
