He was raised to be strong

To stop things from going wrong

He will break the curse

Javier watched his sister, Freya, dance her first dance with her husband, Ronin. They were beaming at each other, the love for each other was evident on their faces. Looking at the happy couple made Javier think about Auliria. She wasn’t here at the wedding and he wondered why. Freya surely invited her, but she didn’t come. Javier was disappointed to say the least, but he had an unsettling feeling, a feeling he couldn’t explain.

“Are you alright?” he heard his sister ask from beside him, when did she get here?

“Yes, I was just wondering where Auliria was,” He said as he scanned the crowd in front of him.

“I was wondering that as well, I did send them an invitation, but I didn’t receive any conformation,” Freya said with a worried look.

“Don’t worry sis, I will go pay them a visit,” Javier said as he gave his sister a reassuring smile.

“Let me know what you find,” Freya said as she hugged Javier before returning to her husband’s side.

Javier greeted his parents before he left to get his horse ready for the journey in the stable. Once everything was ready he started the journey to the Elven kingdom. Something inside of him told him that there was something wrong, but he didn’t want to dwell on those thoughts so he thought back to the time he first met Auliria…

He was still a young boy of only eight summers when his parents took him and his sister Elven kingdom for a meeting of some sorts. He and his sister was left with a nanny and the instructions not to leave their quarters, but of course for a curious little boy, that was an extremely difficult task. So he waited for his nanny to be distracted before he slipped out of the room. He closed the door as softly as he could behind him. When he turned around he bumped into a little girl.

“Who are you?” The girl asked him curiously.

“Javier, and who are you?” He asked.

“Auliria,” And from that day they were somewhat inseparable.

A smile appeared on Javier’s face as he recalled the memory, but that smile quickly vanished when he arrived at the bordering elven village only to find it deathly quiet, the quietness worried him relentlessly. When he looked around he found villagers laying about, they looked dead, but on further inspection he discovered they were asleep. He hurried to the castle only to find all the servants asleep as well as the king and queen.

He rushed to Auliria’s room hoping that she was alright. He found her sleeping peacefully on her bed. His heart stopped when he saw her. He shook her and called her name a few times, but she remained fast asleep. He watched her sleeping for hours, wondering how he could help her but nothing came to mind until he remembered an old story his mother always told him when he was younger. How the prince kissed the princess and the kingdom was saved. He decided it was worth a shot and he bent over to kiss her.

Once their lips touched the spell was broken and Auliria’s eyes fluttered open.

“Javier?” she asked.

“I’m here, what happened?” Javier asked.

“Uncle Aerolf was angered, he cursed us, but you saved us,” Auliria said with a smile.

“I guess I did. Auliria, I…I love you, I know the timing is off, but seeing you here fast asleep, made me realise how precious life is, and I don’t want to waste another second of it without you by my side,” Javier said earnestly.

Auliria only kissed Javier in reply.

Auliria’s parents burst into the room and when they saw the two together, smiles covered both their faces, they knew these two would get together someday and they final did, it only took a curse to bring them together…
