Being a prince was hard, Ethan wasn’t going to lie about that. He was heir to a throne and it was easy having the whole kingdom watch all your moves. Being a prince was more than just worrying about what to wear to a ball or how to woe a girl, he had hundreds of lessons every day on top of visiting all the towns in his kingdom along with his father, followed by sword fighting and tactical lessons along is brother, Eldrich. The only break he had each day was during lunch and he loved spending is breaks with his family. He adored them. Especially his younger sister.

Sometimes he was quite jealous of Elaina, not of her health, but of her freedom. She had no responsibilities and obligations and that was something that he envied. Not that his parents pressured him, but he pressured himself into being the best and making his parents proud. He struggled in silence. But seeing his family’s proud faces always made him feel better and gave him the motivation he needed to continue.

The best days of his life, was the few off days he got a year. He usually spent one of those days on his own, riding in the woods on his trusted stallion, Olin. Today was one of those day and he breathed in the smell of the fresh pine and took in the sound of the chirping birds. He let out a calming sigh. This was his favourite past time: spending time in nature. This was maybe because he was partly faerie and skinchangers.

“Come on, boy,” He said as he patted Olin’s neck and urged his stead on.

As he was trotting through the forest a sudden singing voice brought him to a sudden halt. He pulled Olin’s reigns, an indication that he should stop. His pointed ears perked as he tried to listen where the singing came from. When he heard the singing voice he turned Olin in its direction and they started to follow the voice all through the forest.

He followed the voice until he came to a long tower in the middle of a clearing, how he hasn’t seen this tower before that day was beyond him. As he climbed off his horse, his eyes scanned over the tower in search of the source of the voice. He found the girl responsible for the sweet noise as he rounded the tower. She was sitting on a window seat playing with her very long hair that hung in a waterfall down the side of the tower, a few inches from the ground. This was the longest hair Ethan has ever seen in his life. He was so enthralled with her hair that he didn’t notice her stop singing and staring at him with a shocked look.

“Who are you?” her sweet voice brought him out of his stupor and his head snapped up to the girl.

“I’m Ethan, and you are?” he asked.

“Nyra,” she said.

“Can you come down?” he asked her.

“No, there is no doors out,” she said.

“Can I come up then?” He asked. She nodded before she told him to climb her hair.

That was a weird experience for Ethan, but he climbed her hair nonetheless. He spent the whole day getting to know this beautiful girl and for the rest of the week he visited her every day. But with each visit he fell more and more in love with her and he wanted her to come with him. But she couldn’t, she was a pixie princess trapped by a wicked enchantress and the only way to get her freedom would be when the enchantress was no more. With that information Ethan formed a plan to ensnare the enchantress. He hid under Nyra’s bed and waited for the enchantress to come visit her.

When the wicked enchantress came by one day again, Ethan jumped from his hiding place and killed the enchantress. With her dying breath the magic was lifted and he took Nyra home with him.

Ethan and Nyra lived happily ever after and shared their story with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren – still in love as ever…
