Normal POV~
-Five months ago-
"Come to me... You can do it..." Yami cooed to his son, outstretching his arms as Atem balanced Heba so he could stand still.
"Ah!" Heba cheered, reaching his arms towards his mother and beginning to float.
"No... Walk! On floor!" Yami gently said and pointed down. The small one began to baby talk as he floated down, Atem chuckled.
"Sorry, he learned by himself..."
"Are you sure you didn't teach him? He's starting to fly everywhere,"
"I'm positive, he observes then attempts." Yami sighed but smiled.
"All righty then. Heba, can you walk for mommy?" The pale man asked, Heba cocked his head to the side and moved his feet to make very small steps. He tripped from losing his balance and let out a yelp.
"Oh no!"
"Wait, let him get up by himself, he'll learn that way." The former Pharaoh said, giving Yami a reassuring look. With small tears in his eyes, Heba wiped them away while he stood up to continue his journey towards his mother.
"There, there, you're almost there, just a bit more and you'll just fine..." Yami cooed and lifted his arms again to reach Heba. Almost if on cue, the small child ran towards him and began to bawl his eyes out.
"It's okay, it's okay, it's okay..." He tried to calm his son down as gently as he could. Yami didn't remember how his parents calmed him, oh goodness he wasn't ready-
"Mommy... Mommy..." His eyes widened, his first word. But it was almost heartbreaking since he was sobbing. Atem walked towards them, a soft expression plastered onto his face.
"Heba, can you look at daddy?" Atem quietly asked, Heba seemed to ignore him and continued to cry.
"Please, look at me." Teary crimson eyes opened and looked at him, little whimpers falling out of the small one's mouth like a waterfall.
"It's all right to be scared from time to time, okay? Even if it is just learning how to walk like you're doing right now. But you need to remember when things get tough, and you fall, you'll need to get right back up." His son nodded and let one of his hands let go of his mother's button-up shirt and clenched Atem's dark blue jeans.
"Daddy, Mommy..." His second word... that was quick. Whatever was said next was all baby talk and it made the parents smile.
*** -Present time- Five months later-
"It's August 25... again. Time flies by so fast," Yami commented, currently making marshmallow fondant for the birthday cake he was making. When they visited their friends, like they do every weekend or week, Yami had invited them to a small party, which everyone accepted to go to. He turned his head to look at Atem and Heba. Atem was currently showing Heba how to make a butterfly from magic, Heba was so fascinated his eyes sparkled with excitement. He was fine doing all the work in the baking of the cake, Atem attempted to help, but it ended up with egg yolks in his hair along with flour all over him. Yami let out a chuckle at that, that shall be a memory he'll keep with him forever.
Suddenly, the door burst open with a cheering Marik.
"What's up bitches! Is the cake ready?" Atem glared at one of his best friends, screaming at him with his eyes.
"There is a kid present, he starting to pick up words now. So, don't say bad words."
"The cake is almost ready, Marik. Where are the others?" Yami asked, his tongue sticking out to the side as he concentrated on setting the fondant on a cake.
"Outside taking out some presents. We're going to spoil this little guy."
"Oh, don't spoil him too much," Heba quickly got off the chair when he saw big boxes enter the room.
"Eh? Daddy?" He asked, pointing at the orange one.
"Yes, those presents are for you. You'll open them after eating your birthday cake." Heba made this giant loud squeal, his black aura surrounding him as things floated around him.
"That's my boy!" Atem cheered to himself, proud that he taught this to his son. Not the scream, but the aura and magic. Immediately after, the small one-year-old let the objects fall to the ground and instead ran to his mother, well, as fast as his little legs could take him.
***
"Do you want to take a bite out of the cake?" Yami asked his son, who was tapping his hands on the table as he curiously looked at the big strawberry on top. Atem sat next to him drinking Sprite that was disguised as water, he nodded as Heba looked at him.
"Go for it." The former Pharaoh smiled, Heba's mouth turned into a big grin and he turned to his mother, who smiled back. Malik made sure to take a picture of that while Bakura turned on the camera.
"Ahh!" Heba squealed before pressing his face onto the cake, staining his face with baby blue frosting.
"Aww!" They all cooed after Heba raised his head, letting out an adorable laugh.
