Danny woke up to the sun shining on his face, the first thing he noticed was the warmth that was coming from the lump he was resting on. The hunter bolted up at the feeling and looked over to see Dean sitting in the seat next to him with a small smile on his face as he stared down at him.
"We've got to stop meeting like this." Dean teased a smirk forming when the other blushed, there was a part of him that loved the way he could make the shorter man blush. "Come on Sam's waiting for us." With that the two hunters left the car just as the youngest Winchester was making his way back over from the other side of the street, as soon as he reached the two he started to go on about the kid he'd seen and how he knew where he was. They all walked side by side, until Danny accidentally ran into a wooden pole it wouldn't have been anything out of the ordinary and it wouldn't have even been something worth mentioning if it weren't for the words carved into it.
'Croatoan'
The words stood out to Danny and he knew that he'd seen them somewhere before, he didn't realise that he had been standing staring at the pole till a hand suddenly grabbed his shoulder, when he looked over his shoulder he met the concerned eyes of Sam.
"Look at the pole." The shorter hunter told him as he pointed out the word. "Where have I seen it before?"
"The Roanoke lost colony; they disappeared and this was the only thing that was left." Sam told him as he himself stared at the word in confusion.
"They never knew what really happened to them. I remember there were theories like disease or an Indian raid but now that makes them all just gone." Danny recalled as he turned to look at both the Winchester, Dean had a look of disbelief on his face.
"You don't think that's what's going on here do you?" The oldest Winchester asked, giving the shorter hunter a look.
"There was a theory that the word was the name of a demon." Danny added on as he turned to the word again drowning out the sound of the Winchesters talking as he got out his phone ready to try and text or call Bobby for some help. That was when he noticed there was no service or WiFi at all, it might have been something that wasn't noticeable but in the middle of a town like this it was weird. "Hey guys there's no service or anything." He called out as he turned to face the two who instantly got their phones out to check their own service, after only a few seconds they both looked up while shaking their head. Dean glanced around before marching over to a phone box that was just a little ways down the street, he instantly picked it up as the two caught up to him coming to stand beside him as he tried several times to use the phone.
"The lines are dead." Dean told them while looking around cautiously. "If I were to massacre a town this would be the first thing I do as well." The hunters exchanged a few more words before they made their way over to the impala, they knew that they needed to find the kid from Sam's dream.
They pulled up in front of a house after a few minutes of driving and all three of them stepped out as they made their way to the door. Danny knocked on the door, it only took a few seconds for a teen to answer the door.
"Hello?" The boy asked as his eyes flicked from person to person, Danny gave a tight lip smile before showing the fake US Marshal badge.
"Hi we're looking for Duane, he lives here right?" The shorter hunter asked as the teen gave a shrug while coming to lean against the door frame, it seemed odd to the hunter that the boy was trying to keep the door closed.
"Yeah he's my brother he's out on a fishing trip." The teen told them casually while staring the other down, there was something off about the kid and Danny just knew it.
