Monochromacy.

The condition where someone can only see black and white. It's extremely rare, only 0.00003% of the world's population is affected by this particular condition.

And I have to end up as one of them. Out of all the dumb luck, I'm one of them. It's not like I'm blind blind, there's just no color in my world. I'll never understand what color is exactly, but I do know that other people could see it and I can't. It doesn't necessarily make me sad, but I do wonder how the world looks to everyone else.

"So it's just black and white?"

"And gray." I nod. The woman sitting next to me in the waiting room smiles sadly.

"I'm sorry, dear. I hope they can help you soon." She fishes in her gray purse and pulls out a white phone, then proceeds to scroll through it. I take the clue that our conversation is over, so I twiddle my thumbs and stare at the office door, where a woman with black hair, gray skin, and a white uniform emerges.

"Y/N?" she calls. "We're ready for you." At once, I stand up and hurry after the doctor, who leads me into a small room. It's cold and gray in here, and it unsettles me.

"So, how has your health been? Last time sick?"

"My health's been okay. I was sick a few weeks ago, just a cold."

"Good. Now, any changes with sight?"

"...no."

She nods and scribbles on her clipboard furiously, then holds up a stethescope. She puts it to my chest, and I shiver at the sudden coldness. Next comes her otoscope, and she looks through it into my ears.

"You're a little less healthy than we would like you to be," she concludes. "But it's nothing serious. That's all we had to do, you can sign out at the front desk. Have a nice day!"

And with that, I slip out of the doctor's office and begin to run home. Panting, I break into a sprint and don't bother looking back, eager to get home.

It takes about fifteen minutes to get to my cottage, but when I arrive, I couldn't be more relieved. I hate the doctor. But when I go to open the door, there's some sort of...yelling issuing from inside. It makes my heart jump, and I really don't want to go in.

Although, it's my house. So I creak open the door slowly and peek in.

Are those...skeletons?
