All three of us sat in Archie for awhile. Making our way to Antartica. I was in uniform, and putting together arrows. It was harder using just my touch and muscle memory.
"Made twenty-nine arrows." Rorschach said out of the blue. I jumped a little to the silence being broken.
"Why would Adrian do this?" I faced where Rorschach's voice was coming from.
Silence filled the ship once again. I rolled my eyes. I could hear the sound of fabrics being moved around together and the sudden swiftness of a puff of air hitting my face. I turned to face it.
"Here." Rorschach grunted.
I reached out only for Rorschach to grab my hand and gently put in it something smooth and fine.
"What's..." I was stopped short.
"Your mask, you're not Robin Hood Without it." Rorschach quietly explained.
I put the silk to my face, the soft feeling of fine silk against my closed colorless eyes gave me the illusion of what the world I wanted to see. I tied the two ends together til they met. When I opened my eyes I could see two red figures as well as the outlined shapes of objects.
"How?" I began.
"You like it? It doesn't heal your blindness but it it's a radar and sensor. It sees for you and transfers the outline of an object, or the heat signature of a person or animal to your brain." Dan explain.
"Surprise for you." Rorschach seemed to a smile in that sentence.
I faced Rorschach only for his face to be a few centimeters away.
"By the way, a mask doesn't define a hero. It's the person underneath." I whispered. Rorschach seemed to chuckle at this response. The moment was interrupted by alarms going off, "Dan?"
"Hang on! The cold is freezing the engine!" Dan shouted. The whole ship started to shake uncontrollably.
I stood up suddenly just for me to get knocked back into a wall. I hit the wall with a loud thud and with another motion I was on the ground. The sound of my arrows falling all over the ground.
"Pull up! Pull up!" Rorschach shouted, "Dan!"
"I'm trying damnit!" Dan shouted back, "Oh shit hang on guys."
"What's going on!?" I panicked.
With a thud, we were thrown everywhere. The ship started sliding and skidding around. I felt a pair of arms hold me tighter.
We suddenly stopped.
"Is everyone okay?" Asked Dan.
"Yes." Rorschach's voice was just a few centimeters from my ear.
"I'm... I'm fine." I replied. Rorschach's warm arms left my body. I started patting around for my arrows and putting them in my quiver.
Dan and Rorschach helped as well as gave me my bow.
"It's going to be freezing, I have winter gear." Dan offered.
"Pass, don't need it." Rorschach frowned.
"A coat works just fine...." I stuttered a bit.
Dan passed me something furry and warm. I wrapped it around my body, the sudden coldness hitting my body out of nowhere.
