Chapter 16 ~ Answers

It only took a few moments for us to enter in what I could assume was a lab, or an Embassy.

"Okay, Robin Hood, see if you can get on top of those railings, if push come to shove shoot as many arrows as you can. Rorschach and I will try to sneak attack him." Dan explained.

I made an estimate on where to aim my arrow. I shot a grappling line around the perch I would be watching from. As I got in position, I could see two heat signatures. A man, Ozymandias and of something inhuman.

I noticed Rorschach and Nite-Owl closing in. With sudden moments both men on the ground.

"Erin! Shoot!" Dan called.

I grabbed a small explosive arrow and fired it at Ozymandias. Unfortunately, to my surprise Adrian caught the fucking thing and threw it back. I didn't have time to reach only for the explosion to hit my perch throwing me off.

"Erin!" I could feel something break my fall. It was still painful.

"Are you insane Veidt!" Dan shouted.

"She's alive isn't she?" Ozymandias's cocky voice cut through the confusion.

"My mask." I opened my eyes to darkness I was left in.

Rorschach grabbed my arms and guided me.

"Oh such a pity, your one talent demolished by your one strength, is also your weakness." Ozymandias just laughed.

"I don't need my sight to shoot an arrow right through your waste of a brain." I sneered back.

"You're about to witness this waste of brain kill indestructible man. Right on time, this way Bubastis." I could a hear the purring of a cat.

Everything went silent.

"He's in there Doc." Rorschach shouted.

"I'm well aware." I could hear Dr. Manhatten's voice

"Follow him." Rorschach insisted.

All of followed not long after Jon. All of sudden, the loud noises of pain, then the loud shot of a gun, and the grunts of pain.

"Veidt! You bastard if you hurt her i'll..." began Dan

"Dan, grow up." Ozymandias said

So much noise and confusion. Rorschach holding my arm and my hand squeezing his arms. The sound of glass shattering. Dr. Manhatten yelling. Everything, chaos. Then silence.

"Is this another one of your weapons Adrian." Began Dr. Manhatten.

"Yes." Ozymandias switched on the TV.

And what came on devastated the world.

"We now have a common enemy, the Dr. Manhatten blows up New York." I heard the constant words of the world echoing through the building.

"I did it, I did it!" Ozymandias shouted in victory, "World peace finally!"

"What...?" I could hear Laurie's voice.

All of us stared at the screens playing out repeated words.

"How..." I began

And from there Adrain explained. He explained the world was on the verge of another war, so he decided to make a sacrifice of the world for the world. He killed millions of people so billions could live.

"We can't keep this a secret." Laurie cried.

"We say something the world is doomed, but we be carrying a lie." Dan pointed out.

"Me or the world." Ozymandias seems to give the obvious choice.

"We all agree to keep it a secret." Dr. Manhatten agreed.

"No, not even in the face of Armageddon." Rorschach hissed through his teeth. He started walking I reached for his coat and grabbed it.

"Rorschach, we..." I began.

I felt Rorschach's lips on mine, his mask over his nose, "You stay, safe here." He walked off.

"Eww." Laurie cringed.

"Rorschach..." I tried call out.

"I'll go get him." Dan said. I could hear footsteps running.

"I heard you went blind, I am terribly sorry for that." Ozymandias didn't seem to have any remorse in his tone.

"What?" I turned to face him.

"I know how you became blind, I hired some men to steal some chemicals to complete this project shame they failed, didn't expect you to show up. As well as survive the attack from your sister." Ozymandias talked more and more.

"What do you mean?" I frowned.

"I paid your sister to take you out, I wasn't planning on it, but I had to make it seem like it was legit. To make it seem like everyone was in danger. Unfortunately, I forget how involved you get." Ozymandias seemed to smirk

"Why are you telling me this?" I went up to his voice and angrily tried to punch him. He dodged it and I fell on the computer.

That's when my sudden nausea kicked in and I puked on the ground.

Silence went in the room... "So, when's your due date." Ozymandias asked
