Jake's POV
"Yes son, it's me. You called and I answered," his speech was deep and certain. I haven't seen my dad in 13 years. He died in a tribal war between the Firewalkers and the Cloudchasers. "I can't believe it's really you," I smiled wagging my tail. "It's really me. Sparkjumper, my son. You have gotten so big," his strangely real hands ran over my fur. "Dad, I miss you so much. Why did you leave?" I questioned nuzzling his hand?
" it was my duty as leader of my tribe. I'm here to help you now my son. Your mate might be in serious trouble," his smile slowly vanished. I laid my ears back against my head as i whined. "She might get killed. I have to save her, but i have no idea where she is. Please I need your help," I pleaded. He just laughed and lifted my head.
"No need to lie to me. I have been watching you. Derrick needs you. Use the skills I taught you, Jake. I will guide you," he faded and so did the pasture. When my eyes opened they slowly changed from a light hazel to their natural yellow. "I know now," I got on all of my paws and took in the air around me.
I caught Derrick's scent. I raced out of the house in a wild wolf-like state following his scent. I raised my head and howled. 'I'm on my way.'
Derrick's POV
As I jumped from roof to roof I stopped as I heard a loud howl. 'Wow. That. That sounds like Jake.' I thought. I had practiced parkour since the age of 10. I was a pro now. I was going behind Jake's back and going into cat territory. I had put a ghost chip in my phone, turned off my phone, and left early.
All so Jake couldn't find me. I was so caught in my thoughts that I ran off the edge of a building. "Fuck!" I curled and did a somersault on the roof of an other building. I stood and started back running. 'I need to get as far as I can before Jake comes looking for.' I complained jumping over a chimney.
It wasn't long till I made it to the border I planted and looked around 'good no guards this time.' I thought. With a single step, I passed into the feline territory. Being as careful as I could be, i walked through the streets trying not to catch the eye of the passing tigers and Panthers. "Just a few more blocks," I sighed to myself.
How did I manage this? I shouldn't have snuck out. He left me no choice. He wouldn't listen. He was blinded by his anger, but at the same time, i was blinded by my stubbornness. I should have talked to him not made it worse. I was dragged from my thoughts as i was yanked into an ally and shoved against a brick wall.
"Aahh fuck!" I groaned grabbing the back of my head as it hit the wall. "Well, well well. Looks like Jake's puppy got lost," said a familiar yet strange voice. 'Shit.' I thought as I overcame the pain in the back of my head and opened my eyes. 'Great! The exact fucking asshole i wanted to see!' I screamed in my head. "Adrian?" I responded sounding more like a question then I needed it to.
"Long time no see, Derrick," he responded with a hint of a growl. "What do you want!?" I growled getting into a fighting stance. Adrian smirked and pointed up, "I wouldn't get so aggressive if I were you." I was slightly confused. I couldn't resist. I lifted my head only to see two rows of cats all dressed in black on either side of the alley.
'Fuck. Me.' I was at odds. One wrong move and I was as good as dead. "Walk away Adrian and everyone can leave unharmed. Forgive and forget," I held my head high and voice steady hoping he couldn't see through my bluff. "Remember this Derrick," he unzipped his jacket showing my a now healed D shaped scare on his chest.
"So," I replied feeling my stomach turn inside out. Adrian snapped the unknown cats above jumped down behind Adrian. He pulled out a switchblade. Solid steel pocketknife from a pouch that hung from his belt loop. With a flip of his wrist, the opened. "Time to pay, Flame." I tended up and tightened my fist. 'I'm so dead...'
