Derrick's POV
After Jake and Leo made a temporary truce, Alex started making our suits. "I had no idea you were part Firewalker," commented an amused Leo. "Yeah. My dad was the Firewalker tribe leader. His name was Firehunt. He died in a war with the Cloudchaser tribe," replied Jake sipping a beer. I smiled softly to myself as I sat on the couch closes to the door playing Hungry Dragon. I loved seeing Jake happy. There was something in his smile that brightened my day. He had never mentioned much about his family, but I can understand why. Finding out my soon to husband was part of a tribe as well was interesting. Kayla, my mom, was a Lightningcatcher and so was I. Corina, my second mom, I think was a Shadowstalker.
My dad wasn't part of any tribe which I'm glad of. I was in my own little world until I caught a glimpse of Kayla standing by the door. "Mom?" I whispered to her quietly. "Watch out Boltsong. Your near future is full of danger," she warned. I felt bolts of electricity run through my body as the fur on my tail frizzled out. I nodded slowly to my mom and she vanished. "Derrick!" yelled someone. As a reflex, I shoved away their hand and planted my palm on their chest sending a lightning bolt into it electrocuting them. When I came back to reality (oh there goes gravity lmao comment if you know who sang that song), I saw Leo stumble backward shaking before falling to the ground.
When the effects were off, his fur was fuzzed out. "Oops," I covered my mouth. Jake busted out laughing nearly choking on his beer. "Are you ok?" I questioned helping up the electrocuted leopard. "No, that's my fluffy unicorn, not yours," he slurred before crashing to the ground blacking out. "Take that as a no?" I asked. Jake fell on the floor thinking everything is funny. "Mind shutting up and helping me?" I complained trying to lift a 200-pound leopard off the ground. Jake had lost it. He was laughing none stop like the Joker. "Oh Alex! Derrick electrocuted your husband!" he yelled. "He What?!" Alex shouted back. Alex had a fire in his eyes I have only seen in Jake. "Really Derrick? Again?" He complained. "It was an accident!" I debated helping in the effort to wake Leo up again.
"Huh? Oh, look at the pweddy kitty." Leo stumbled as he played with Alex's whiskers. "Hey, look I have a tail! Is the room spinning or is it just me?" Leo's last words before he crashed to the ground again. "Damn, how much energy did I put into that bolt?" I mumbled to myself as I lifted one eyebrow and scratched the back of my head. "Damn Derrick! You didn't have to knock the rest of his screws loose! Now he's really insane!" Jake joked and teased before getting water shot at him from Alex. 'Now who's laughing water boy?' I thought trying to hold back a laugh. It took about 3 minutes to get Mr. Electrocuted in bed thanks to Jake. Once Leo was in bed and Alex finished or suits, Me and Jake decided to head to his mom's house. I didn't really care I liked his mom. Now his brother is a different story.
Jake's POV
I couldn't get it out of my head. It was amazing that my mate was a Lightningcatcher, but it hilarious to see my rival get electrocuted. The retarded look on his face made my day a hundred times better. I was almost to caught up in my thoughts to notice my phone ringing. Except. It wasn't my actual phone. It was a phone designed the gang's technology geek. It was made specifically for gang members only so we could get a hold of each other for missions or back up. "Why is this one ringing?" I grumbled. Derrick didn't seem to care he was in his own little world again. The name on the phone was Silver Claw. She was one of the oldest members of the gang. She stared the gang with mom and has been helping run his Blake was born. Sliver Claw was a red wolf and I thought of her as a grandma.
I knew not to miss a call from her or I would get a heavy paw to the back of my head. "Beta Red," i answered. "Beta Red, I need you at the base. Now," she did not sound happy. "Why? Isn't mom there?" I asked trying not to sound to resistant. "I dont know where Blood Fang is. You are next in line anyway," she scoffed. "Let me guess. Last-minute mission? Loan shark work? Or maybe some spies? I always love the spies," I picked while turning down a back street in the direction of the gang mansion. "Very funny smartass but no. Cod out the other day and overheard two nomads talking about how they want to meet our gang and work their way into it. Luckily Cod knocked them out and brought them here," I could hear the disgust in her voice. I shook my head. The last thing I wanted to deal with was a couple of knuckleheads that think they are tough enough to join our ranks.
Especially this close to the wedding. "Fine I'll be there in 5," I looked over at Derrick he was still lost. With nothing more than a click of her tongue, Silver Claw hung up. I was gonna have my hands full. "Be prepared love. By the tone of Old Silver's voice, these two rookies aren't wolves," Derrick joked looking at me with his signature Let's cause trouble smirk on his face. "And here I am thinking you were lost in space," I smirked back. Derrick could never be read if he didn't want to be. He always kept me on my claws trying to read him. "I have my moments," he grinned. I knew while Derrick was around there was never a dull moment.
