Some more Hiro x Reader!
Your (F/C) unzipped jacket flapped out behind you as your sneakers pounded the stained, cracked concrete. The streetlights flickered on as you ran across San Fransokyo. Your cold fingers reached into your jacket pocket and touched your new robot lightly. You couldn't wait to test it out in the bot fight.
You skidded to a stop in front of the alley and darted inside. The dark, moldy corners had gotten less scary over the years, so you barely blinked when an alleycat glared at you.
Finally, you reached the dimly lit botfight. It had already started, where a burly man was against a skinny teenager. The bots punched at each other as you slid through the crowd towards the circle.
Suddenly, a hand clamped down on your shoulder. You jumped. Turning around, you just saw that it was Hiro Hamada, your best friend.
"Hiro! You scared me!" you said. He gave you a grin and nudged you. "Are you going next?"
"I hope." You turned to the ring, where the burly guy was ripping the teenager's bot to pieces. Your fingers tightened around your bot in your pocket.
As the winner collected his money smugly, you stepped up. "I'll go," you volunteered.
The man gave a disbelieving snort, but he sat down anyway.
"Go, (Y/N)!" Hiro called excitedly as you handed over your money. You plunked your new bot into the ring. It looked simple; just a floppy-looking tin can with pipe cleaners taped to the sides. A tiny water balloon with a face drawn on it sat on the top for a head. Smirking, you glanced up at Hiro. What kind of robot is that? he mouthed.
"Rip her bot apart, Ahikiko!" some more muscular men called out in the crowd. They were obviously your opponent's supporters. "Haha, what bot?" Ahikiko roared with laughter as he set down his robot: a tiny metal ninja with wicked blades.
"I'll keep your tiny robot when the time comes," you muttered through gritted teeth. You narrowed your (E/C) eyes in determination and started up the controller.
Immediately Ahikiko's ninja lurched forward and popped open the water balloon. The water spilled over the metal and wires, and the ninja fell to the ground, sputtering and smoking.
"What?" Ahikiko gaped. Shakily the ninja got up after a few moments. But it was too late. The can had popped open, and a new robot grew out of it. It sliced the can into a few pieces and picked up two. The edges of the metal were sharp and glinting in the dim street light.
Your robot lunged forward and sawed off the ninja's limbs, then snatched up its blades. Your bot skewered the ninja right through the stomach with its own sword.
But Ahikiko wasn't about to give up. The ninja inched along the ground, but your bot stopped him by taking the pipe cleaners and tying him up. Now your opponent was just a pile of rusty metal tied up with (F/C) pipe cleaners.
You grabbed your cash as Ahikiko spluttered in fury. His face was red with anger. "Get her," he snarled.
The triumphant smile dropped off your face. Hiro rushed forward. "Hey, she won, fair and square!" he said defensively. He stepped in front of you, shoving you behind him. "Get me, not her."
"Hiro, no," you said in a frightened voice. "No!" you screamed when Ahikiko's men grabbed Hiro by the arms. Hiro flailed in the meaty hands like a flimsy noodle.
Ahikiko grabbed you by your jacket hood. Your feet lifted off the air, and suddenly you couldn't breathe. "Let go!" you rasped. You twisted and punched the arrogant man right in the face. He didn't even flinch, just tossed you at an old mirror. "Ow!" you yelled as you slapped against the old glass, and the mirror shattered. You rolled across the shards of glass, your eyes closed.
"(Y/N)!" Hiro yelled. He kicked at the men, then reached into his pocket and pulled out his own bot. He threw it at the floor and screamed, "Destroy!" The little bot stood up and rushed at Ahikiko. It sprouted a spear out of its arm and plunged it into his ankle.
Ahikiko screeched in pain. "Run, you idiots!" He yanked the blade out of his fat leg and hurled it to the ground. Then, limping, he hurried out of the alley. His men followed him.
Everyone else stared at Hiro, who was dropped heavily on the concrete. He groaned and rubbed his head. Then all the bot-fighters rushed out too before Hiro's bot could get them.
Suddenly, Hiro sat up. "(Y/N)!" He crawled over to you. You were lying, still, on the shattered mirror. He picked you up and cradled you in his lap. "Wake up," he said. Muttering to himself, he checked your hands and face and was relieved when you didn't have any wounds except a small cut.
You opened your eyes, and Hiro sighed in relief. "You okay?" he asked.
You sat up and nodded. Hiro stared at you. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, Hiro, don't worry," you muttered. Then a smile spread over your face. "That was a sick bot, wasn't it?"
He forced a smile. "Come on, let's get you home. I need to check for more wounds."
"Calm down. . . I'm fine." You flicked your eyes away from Hiro's.
"What's wrong?" he asked immediately.
"Hiro, can I tell you something?" you said quietly, curling up your legs and wrapping your arms around them.
"Sure! Anything!"
"Well, Hiro, I really like you . . . and you were brave when you protected me from those guys," you said as quietly as possible, staring at your ripped jeans.
"I'll always be there to protect you," Hiro whispered. He reached out with one hand and took your chin, tilting it towards him. Your heartbeat quickened when he leaned forward and pressed his lips against yours.
Happily you kissed him back, and you stayed like that for a long time as the streetlamp flickered and went out.
